True. Sometimes you can't be too nice.

Having a gun for protection is a beautiful thing. For women especially it's a great equalizer.

Luckily, my rottweiler negates any reason for me to use a firearm, but I am greatly comforted by the fact that if person of ill intent were to make it past her, she'd buy me time to get my back-up.

I think most people are full of bluster and hesitate under a real life threat. It's not easy to shoot another human being for most people. I have been looking for non lethal ammunition but no luck so far

I was Involved in a shooting with an armed Perp. He hesitated I did not. Guess who is still alive ?

But I do agree hesitation can kill you. Before you draw your weapon you need to be prepared to take a life W/O hesitation.

I will say shot placement and speed are equally important in a self defense situation.

For those that practice at the range, you must draw from your method of concealment as fast as you can and get shots on target ( no further than 7 yards ).

For home defense, i recommend a 20 gauge pump shotgun, junior model (barrel and stock shorter than regular model). Not too many people will stick around once they heard a round being chambered.......

I looked at that route. An attorney recommended it would be easier and less messy to kill an intruder than to wound him. His direct quote: "You do NOT want to deal with the legal aftermath of shooting someone with rock salt."
