I'd consider Phoenix or Tucson. When you want to visit family in Vegas or they want to visit you, it's a short trip, and the transplant facilities are available in both cities.

Ohhhh plllleeasseee!!

Teenagers are smarter than you think. We are now in the 21st century!! Billboard with half naked women or men will not turn them into pedophiles or strippers even with strippers and strip joints all around town. Great parenting starts at home! There will always be peer pressure and temptation so guidance not just from parents but relatives is a must. Fortunately for all my nephews, besides their parents, they have us, their uncle, aunt, grandmother, cousin.........

For those without families here, your "good" neighbors and even co-workers could also help shape the mindset of children/teenagers. Be active and have get togethers with them.

It has been shown many times that a young person's peer group is just as important as their home life. I wouldn't have Las Vegans as a child's peer group. It's really that simple. This is a sleazy, tawdry city because it is populated by sleazy, tawdry people. There is pressure on young people everywhere. But why move to ground zero if there are other options?

Las Vegas has a very cavalier attitude towards vice. It's part of the ingrained culture of this city. There is no way around it.

You know, by making broad generalizations, you are calling yourself sleazy and tawdry, as you are one of the population. You can't put an entire group of people into that category. It's like saying all New Yorkers are ignorant and brash, or all Los Angelenos are lazy. There are 2 million people here. Many of us are just fine, thank you.

Many. But not most. The average Las Vegan is a train wreck. There are more of them than there are of us. To say otherwise is to wear blinders when it comes to this city.

Out of the 1.8 million Las Vegas residents, a couple hundred come to C-D to actually discuss the city.

Just broad generalization with an underlayer of naked hostility to the place.

The differences to other places in the SW like Los Angeles and Phoenix lies quite completely in the mind of the beholder.

In fact Las Vegas is far harder on teenagers and those below 21 than virtually any other city of size.

"We're no worse than other places in the Southwest" is hardly a glowing endorsement. I wouldn't want to raise a family in Los Angeles or Phoenix or Tucson, either.

The Southwest is a magnet for riff-raff. I cannot wait to get out of here.

Ahh yes that is right. You prefer higher crime areas. To each his own.

Scoop, C-D isn't the be all to end all of social responsibility. It's just a random website with a bunch of people giving personal opinions on just about any topic. Many of the people are bitter, many are absolute lunatics, many are just bored. Fortunately, many also seem content and happy with their choices in life and share some positivity. But the fact that only a couple hundred post on one website out of billions has no relation to anything regarding the population as a whole.

Jeez Scoop, what kind of people do you hang out with? Yes, there are plenty of deviants here but as you say, they are everywhere. We don't now nor ever have associated ourselves with people like that. We (and that includes our son) hang out with other middle class, family-oriented people who live a normal life that is completely opposite from anything you describe.
