With the arrival of the third straw in 2015 Las Vegas will be able to supply water at any level including those below the level at which the dam stops functioning. This gives it the best geographic positioning of any user.

Las Vegas has sufficient water for some years yet stored in various places and is a small user making it a very limited target.

I heard there was a large underground reservoir straddling the border between NV and CA and the only thing preventing us from tapping it is a small breed of fish that only number in the hundreds. Anybody know anything about this and how likely it is to tap that source?

It's hard to believe we are at a building frenzy with this going on. Maybe the thousands of homes to be built don't have any real impact, with the water recycling we do?

I thought that last year was pretty good for the Rocky Mountain snow pack. I figured this year would at least be break even.

Are the holding more water in Lake Powell?

Is this really something we need to talk about every few weeks? We have water. We are going to have water. If Lake Mead is completely empty and turned into a skateboard park, we will still have water from other sources. If you want MORE water, tell California to stop using so much (Nevada's percentage of water use is ridiculously low), or hope for more snow in the Rockies.

The cities could have been doing something years ago but liberals don't listen .
Cities are the worst consumers of water on junk no one needs along highways and such , it is a flagrant disregard for this valuable resource, and the few people that pay taxes to support it.

This should be in the California forum as it is their problem not ours. We are sitting pretty and will be fine.

I'm not going to pin my future on "hope."
