So here's the deal, I'm a semi-frequent traveler and Las Vegas is always tops on my list of places to visit and blow off some steam. I currenly live in San Jose, California but I'm considering a move soom and one of the cities on my list is LV, mostly for the cheaper costs of living.

The last time I was in LV was about a month ago and I stayed at Palms Place, a very nice hotel off the strip. The problem was I was expecting to see all adults but I couldn't get over how many little kids were at the pool, of course they were noisy and ruined the experience for me, naturally the parents did nothing to quiet down their little angels, all too typical.

I always assumed LV is an adults vacation spot for obvious reasons, not a place to take your annoying little ones.

So anyway when I go to LV on vacation next time I want to find a hotel that caters to adults only, not families with small kids. Can I get a recommendation of one?

For hotel stays I usually prefer 2-3 nights in a nice but pretty basic room, a studio suite is fine with me, not looking for anything too plush, must have a good workout gym with a variety of machines, a pool, and high-speed web access. I like to be off the strip but close enough to get to the fun, shows, and nightlife, I like to gamble a little, maybe a round of poker or blackjack but not a big casino person.

If I look for place to live in LV or nearby I want it to be more of an adults-only community, not a retirement area but a community that doesn't cater to families, prefer to be around young to middle-aged adults with no kids. Does such a place exist?

A little about me, I'm a web designer, male in my late 30's with no wife or kids by choice. My budget is $200K-$350K for a house or condo to buy, prefer a newer area in a quiet location, not too close to the strip, the airport, or high traffic areas.

Thanks everyone in advance.

It is basically illegal. The law forbids discrimination against families in housing. The one exception is for those older than 55 under specific circumstances.

There are places where children are rare though not forbidden. Sky for instance appears to have almost none. You will however run into children occasionally even there. All the hotel-condos will have some children.

Likely the best you can do would be buy in one of the sparse half acre areas where you at least have your own space which you can keep child free...

As previously stated you won't find a hotel that doesn't allow children, but there are hotels where you won't find as many families. ie Wynn. I've stayed at the Venetian a few times and don't recall any toddlers at the pool.
As for buying .... there are plenty of 55+ neighborhoods for you to explore.

Even though you are not old enough to live in our 55 and over age restricted communities, you'll find kids there, too, on occasion, but not as much as in regular non age restricted communities.

Everybody has their grandchildren visiting at one time or another in the age restricted communities, and they use the community pools, play in the road, backyards, etc. They are just not allowed to own homes there, but they can visit and stay with homeowners who own the home and are within the age restrictions of the community. They can't live there on a permanent basis either.

Las Vegas is geared for adults to visit, yeah sure, but you'll find those adults pushing baby strollers along the Strip at 3am, it's always, always, been that way and that isn't ever going to change. For hotels you might like Wynn or Bellagio, I don't know if they still do, but those places didn't allow children unless they were with adults staying at the hotel or eating in the restaurants. I don't know if that still holds true. Hotel pools {not the nudey ones} always have kids in them.

Despite everything you've heard, Las Vegas is full of kids, full of families, so like another poster mentioned, maybe spending big bucks on a 1/2 to 1 acre acre spread on the fringes of the valley will suit your needs. Unless of course, your next door neighbor has kids, or they sell or rent to someone with kids, lol

Bottom line, in answer to your question If I look for place to live in LV or nearby I want it to be more of an adults-only community, not a retirement area but a community that doesn't cater to families, prefer to be around young to middle-aged adults with no kids. Does such a place exist?

The answer is no.

Blessings

When it opened the Bellagio tried to be as close to an adults only resort as the law would allow. That failed miserably. When I stayed there, it was overrun by kids, especially at the pool.

I hope the locals who read the other threads about the cost of living in Las Vegas pay attention to this sentence, which is repeated roughly 50,000 times per year. (This has nothing to do with you, Webtek. It's just that there's another thread about cost of living going on right now. And you're proving my point over on that thread.)

If I look for place to live in LV or nearby I want it to be more of an adults-only community, not a retirement area but a community that doesn't cater to families, prefer to be around young to middle-aged adults with no kids. Does such a place exist? Only on MTV, Hollywood movies, episodes of Cribs, and the "Real Golddiggers of the Las Vegas Valley" reality series on A&E. Face it. People move to Las Vegas. They have sex. Some of them have kids. That's that. Las Vegas isn't the Hollywood version of Las Vegas. It's a giant suburb. And suburbs have kids. If you want to live in a child-free zone, move someplace high-end. Several million for a house. I assure you, you won't see many kids that way.
I answered your questions in red, for clarity. Enjoy.

Not everyone likes kids, and there is nothing at wrong with that. I don't want to turn this into a parenting thread, but pools are not just for kids to blow off steam. They are also a place for ADULTS to relax (which is why many go on vacation in the first place), and as adults we should be able to do so without being splashed or subjected to constant screaming. Why should adults always have to just "deal" with it? Adults have as much right (or more) to enjoy their vacation as kids do.

There are places that have pool areas that are 21+ only. Golden Nugget pool has an adults only, tops optional area, and a separate pool for adults, as does Caesars Palace, for instance. It isn't the entire property, but at least there are some areas that do not cater to children if you look for them.

As someone said on the thread in the other forum, as for places to live, complexes that are full of mostly 1 bedroom units will generally have fewer kids than those with multiple bedrooms, playgrounds on site, etc. I live in a complex that is mostly 1 bedroom with a few 2 bedroom apartments. Not one kid lives there, I rarely see one nearby, even. Nice and quiet

Not what I meant.. BUT when you go to a hotel that has families the pool is the place to let them have fun... I have raised 2 sons and now have my three small grankids living with me... And yes there are times I wish I were by myself.. BUT the OP made it sound like there should be no kids around when he is somewhere. [mod cut- personal]

Again, just because someone does not want kids around them,[ orphaned] Some people don't like kids, or are tired of the world revolving around them and the rest of us are expected to just "deal."

There are places in Vegas to avoid such as Circus Circus and Excalibur, and there are places that children would like not be in the pool, places that have more of an adult pool party vibe. Too bad there aren't resorts that have "quiet" or "adults only" pools as they do at all-inclusives outside of the US.

I would have thought that Palms Place would have been one of the adultish places...I guess the 20s/30s are beginning to reproduce and bring their offspring with them. Maybe the Meridian? It has some larger units though that may attract rug rats.

I would expect the pool clubs such as Drais are pretty much all adult.
