I previously made a post earlier this afternoon and from all of the previous posts, it seems like I need to move there first before I can get the job that I want (I am currently an executive assistant at a architectural/ design firm in San Francisco. So i was wondering, if i were to move there first, the most likely job i would consider getting (while looking for the salaried job) is a cocktail waitress at one of the casinos on the strip.
Are there any cocktail waitresses out there (or anyone who knows a cocktail waitress) that can give me some clue on how much they can pull in on any given night? thanks a bunch!

it depends on what property you work for and how hard you want to work. I've been told between 35-75K per year.

While looking for a job I would definitely want to work at the nicer, bigger casinos, Wynn, Bellagio, Venetian...along those lines. I would like to think I didn't fall off the ugly tree lol. during high school and college i worked in the restaurant business, so i know the best money is at night and on the weekends, which are the shifts I would like to work since I would be applying for other jobs during the day. thoughts??

Yeah... sounds like you have a plan formulated. Im just not sure how easy it is to get a cocktail job at one of those higher end casinos. Sometimes you have to start in a smaller place. I'd start there. If you don't want to, or if you are indeed extremely good looking you could always go straight to human resources and demand a job. Start with a search online to see what they are hiring for. If not for cocktail waitress, maybe you could start in a diffent position and then move into that waitressing job once you get to know some people on the inside.

If you want to work at one of the bigger properties, you better know someone who can get you in the door. Otherwise you will be working somewhere else in the hotel to get in. Those resorts are all about who you know. I know a few cocktail waitresses who pull in a few hundred every night at the Venetian. I know one who pulls in over 100 a year too, but she turns tricks in the hotel tower after her shift. The money is here to be made, you just have to know someone to get you in.

This person spoke the truth. Every single word. Good luck to you. It's a tough town to get a break in. It's easy if you sell what men want. If your not that kind of gal then start at the bottom and work your way up.

The larger and the more luxurious resorts won't hire you as a cocktail waitress unless you have at least one preferably both of these requirements:
you know someone on the inside in that department you're applying for
or
you have previous experience of 1 year or more in that position at an off strip locals casino/hotel or downtown casino/hotel
There's lots of women who relocate to Las Vegas every month looking to apply to become a cocktail waitress. Many of them very beautiful and many of them with plenty of food and beverage serving experience. The bottom line: you'll have competition.
But don't give up. You just need to reasearch, learn about the position you're applying for ahead of time, make contacts, build working relationships, become very good at what you do, even build a clientele so when you apply to bigger better properties the gamblers will follow you.
Everyone must start from the bottom and work their way up the ladder.

Let's cut to the chase. If you are a 10+ and quite young with some reasonable experience you may get on at one of the clubs and make a whole lot of money. Well over 100K without turning tricks.

If you are merely a 10 you will need extensive local experience to achieve a good strip placement. Once you get there though you will make a lot of money. So much that no one ever quits.

If you are not quite a 10 you will need contacts and very good skills. The contacts are often low level...someone you worked with at another place for instance. Or you go to work at another job and eventually transfer.

If you can't make an eight you won't make the strip without significant juice.

If your family knows the Wynns personally all bets are off...
