Hello,

My family of 3 will be moving to Las Vegas, NV beginning April 2015. We are currently living in (Born and Raised) in Honolulu, Hawai'i. Would anybody be able to give us some tips on safe places to live near the strip, how to turn on electricity, gas, water/sewer in our name, etc.? Any information will be helpful!

Also, we are currently looking for a 1-2br apartment (Near the strip) would anyone know or have an estimate of how much or electric bill would be during summer and winter?

Thank you in advance for any info.

First thing you got to do is read the introductory thread.

MOVING (or considering moving) TO THE VEGAS VALLEY??? START HERE!

Do that and then come back and ask specific questions.

As a preliminary locals seldom live near the strip. On the strip is expensive and difficult. Nearby is often a bit sticky. Utilities on a small apartment are generally under $100.

You have plenty of choices when it comes to quality rentals near the Strip. Send me a pvt message and I will tell you which street and town not far from the Strip you can start scoping. There are many apt/condo/townhome rentals in town. Electricity will be affordable for a 2 bedroom unit even during Summer and Winter. I have lived here since the 80's and loving it.

I reside in a 2 bedroom condo and the highest electricity bill I've had this Summer was 90.00, current bill went down to 60.00 and it will go down some more averaging around 45.00.

Goodluck!

Off The Vegas Strip

The above is badly out of date. The Southern Nevada Health District occupies that address, and Sprint hasn't been involved in local telephone service for years. The local telephone carrier is Centurylink. For both cable TV/Internet, and POTS telephone service, it's probably easiest to order service online, or inside on of their little stores, which can be located online (apparently Centurylink has closed many of its standalone stores and relocated inside of several Best Buy locations).

POTS/DSL/IP TV: CenturyLink | Local Provider of High Speed Internet, Phone, Mobile & TV Services
Cable TV/Cable Internet/Telephone: Cox Communications: The Official Website | TV, Internet, Phone, Home Security and Tech Solutions services

The same alternatives to the above available everywhere else in the US, such as Dish Network and DirecTV for TV service, cell or VOIP service (Ooma, Vonage, many others) for phone are available in Las Vegas.
