Hey all.

My wife and I are currently planning on relocating to Vegas this Spring from Cape Cod. We're wondering which part we should be looking in. We don't have kids and don't plan on having them. I'm 42, she's 45. Commute time isn't really a factor as we're both previously from NYC.

We're looking at houses in the 250-300 range. Ideally, we'd like a place with a little more than 5,000 sq/ft of land. We have a 24' enclosed trailer we need to house somewhere. It looks like this narrows our options a bit, but it also looks like such places exist.

I just don't want to end up in a part of town where there are sneakers hanging from the power lines if you know what I'm sayin'!

Thanks in advance for your help and I apologize if y'all are sick of answering this question!

Marc

I don't think there is any area of town with sneakers hanging off of power lines. So you should be good to go.

Just read through this... Long, but pretty helpful...

The Things You Wished You Knew Before Moving to Las Vegas, NV

I did forget to mention that I lived here before. However, that was 15 years ago. I figure that some things have probably changed.

The entire west side of the city from extreme north to extreme south, running along the 215 is great. For 275k, you'll be in a great neighborhood there.
Also look at Henderson.
So basically, Summerlin, Centennial Hills, Providence, Henderson.

First choice, Red Springs as pictured. Second choice, Lake Las Vegas.

Thanks guys... That's good to hear. Everything we've liked so far seems to end up on the west side. A lot of them seem to be Northwest. I think that our land requirement is driving that though.

I was on Corral Dr. off of Buffalo way back when. I think it was nice, but I didn't pay much attention back then.

You should also take a look at the southern end of town. It may be out of your price range, but it is worth a look.

I would choose the south end of town. The West is too congested for my liking and for the commute you're driving into blinding sun as you go into work each morning and again when you come home.

As for the trailer, be mindful of HOA rules. Most communities with an HOA require that the trailer can't be seen, so it will need to be in the garage or in the backyard behind a wall.
