There have been plenty of negative comments on this forum about the older cocktail servers at the downtown and locals' casinos.
I would assume that the Strip beach clubs and night clubs want good looking people serving their guests. It's all part of the experience that guests want and expect and pay for. A young vibrant man who shows up at Wet Republic doesn't expect to be served by a fluffy 62 yr old woman.

Along those lines .... a few weeks ago at the Cosmopolitan ( my favorite Strip casino) there was a male cocktail server working the slot area. It really caught me off guard. It was the first time EVER that I've seen a male cocktail server on the Strip. He was dressed in slacks, shirt and vest as if he was working behind the Desk or players club. Wonder if it will be a trend ...

Sadly, just for seasonal work at the store. I've lived here so long that I'm part of the dirt, but I've never seen a job market as ugly as it is right now.

I have no problem with the swimwear. My problem is that even though I'm a guy, I would still need a two piece suit. I need somewhere to put the man boobs.

What you are seeing is the legal way of posting jobs without age discrimination being introduced. The word model is a word smith way the corporate lawyers get around any charges against them. Same thing for people who are over 50 or headed that way employers hiring use the words fast paced and demanding for descriptions of job duties. The other thing is employers want to keep the wages at minimum wage and younger people will jump on those jobs so they can get a start. Not trying to sound negative but the potential work force out there is loaded with young I''ll work for anything and many ethnic people who have low education and work skills. Just look at W mart they thrive on these people. In the Casino end of this older cocktail servers are usually union or at a place where older folks go to. The corporate barons do not care much how honest hard working and smart you are they just look at $$$ the bottom line. Even in the high tech jobs in the computer area it is a joke what they offer out here for wages and benefits or lack of them. So back to the post corporate lawyers are just using words to skirt around the laws so their other lawyer buddies can not sue them for age discrimination.

Those model jobs at the pool clubs are far from minimum wage.

A good looking young male friend of mine was basically bar backing at one of the popular pool day clubs in town last summer and making $6,000-$10,000 per month. That's just bar backing.

I used to have a few military co-coworkers that worked pool based positions during the summer. They all told me that the pulled in close to $1000 a week. Don't know if their pay included tips or not.

As far as jobs are concerned, I'd prefer the interviewer's position!
