thanks,

Will do.... I actually pin-pointed all the places we liked that our realtor sent us on a map of the city and we have a handful of places in the Spring Valley area, Summerline, and North Las Vegas. Since we have to make the move so quick we are going to be renting for a year before deciding on a place to buy. This way we can get an idea of the area and the neighborhoods and learn more about everything before making a long-term commitment.

Good luck to you on your search and your move... I'll gladly provide some input upon our return next week!

I'm sensing a business opportunity. Buy "beaters" in New England for $1K or less, ship them to Las Vegas, then sell them for $2K or more, and that clearly covers shipping and insurance. Do this with a hundred cars, and you've made a nice profit for the year.

We've already investigated that, and have not ruled it out

Buying cheap "beaters" from the local auction and reselling them on Craigslist was my roommates primary income back in 2009. It worked out for him until he got stuck with too many lemons and no place to park them. The local auction on Losee and Lake Mead start most of their bids at $100. A couple cars will end under $500.

I haven't checked into the legalities as of yet. My previous state had 2 car per year maximum without dealer's license. Nobody would hassle you for 3 or 4, but at 100, some eyebrows might raise

What do those beaters go for in SoCal? That would make the shipping issue much less of a factor. In point of fact, if I was just a private buyer in Vegas looking for a use car, I definitely search the SoCal market, especially since the internet makes it so easy.

Shipping runs 700+ per vehicle.. Even a truckload is 500 per car. Those beaters on the east coast won't sell well here... Rusty..

You've got a better shot on Ebay.

Really? Is a much bigger market. I though the shear volume would bring down the prices, especially at the auctions.
