Hello all,

First time post, been reading a lot of stuff on here over the last few days, and have a couple of questions.

My story is this: Just got let go from a job of 10 years. My wife and I want a change of pace, a fresh start so to speak, and we are tossing around Vegas as a destination along with a couple of other spots.

The big question first - I currently have no job. When the move is made I will have been out of work for 3 months. (We aren't making the move until our daughter graduates high school) We have decent credit, and the capability to pay the deposit and 6 months rent up front. How hard is it going to be getting a rental with no job?

Second question - I have no issues moving out ahead of time to get a job if need be, and my experience is in restaurants (20 years total). Just out of curiosity, what is the pay scale like for management in restaurants out there? MGM has several openings under position codes 11-13, and I can always look outside the casinos if needed. I made 88,000 last year running a casual dining restaurant. Any chance of coming close to that?

We already have the areas pretty much set on looking out there, as we still have one in high school (finishing 8th grade now), and my wife is set on one of the following schools: Palo Verde, Foothill, Green Valley, Arbor View or Coronado.

Thanks in advance for any information, I appreciate it!

You can probably find a rental if you pay a few months up front but that won't help you if you're unable to find work.

You can always negotiate with the property manager which ever place your looking to rent. Give it a try.

You can always try to negotiate. Some rentals need recent pay stubs and a minimum credit score among other things.

That said, rentals are plentiful and if you can pay upfront then you should have no trouble finding a rental.

I've rented without a job and all it took was some effort on my part. Good luck OP
