Anyone playing the Albertson's Monopoly Game 2015? I'm looking for pieces. I looking for pieces either given to me or for trade. I know some people shop and collect but don't play so if your one of those people Let's Make a deal (Wayne Brady's Voice) lol.

each collection has a "key" or a very rare piece (and sometimes 2 pieces) that is required to be able to make an entire collection... the rest of the pieces are abundant and you will get many duplicates

so if someone gives you a key, then you're effectively scamming them

Or.... shop at the Mexican and Asian markets, save the difference and invest it in an index fund. A good track record for returns is better than these silly games.

I look at these fabulous prizes and see markups -- markups as far as the eye can see. Vast shimmering fields of markups. And I hate overpaying for basic necessities. (Just like I look at the big resorts on the Strip and see losers -- millions and millions of losers.)

It is my experience that people can understand this on a fundamental level and still be suckered in by bright flashing lights and beeping noises.

If that is how people want to spend their money, that is their choice. It doesn't always make sense. I can't assume that all of them are idiots or losers.

Where did all the money to build the mega resorts come from? Steve Wynn didn't build his properties out of the goodness of his heart, after all.

As for Albertsons, their former CEO was once singled out as one of the top five most grossly overpaid CEOs in America. The company lost 40% of its value and their CEO was paid nearly $80 million for that. Things seem to be better there now. But I wouldn't invest in that company because they're still a losing business model -- overcharging for staple goods compared to the competition.

I can go to El Super and buy a 10-pound bag of Idaho russets for $1. Or I can go to Albertsons (an Idaho-based company) and pay nearly 10 times that -- but I'll get a worthless game card! Woo hoo!

Sure, people are free to spend their money any way they want. So long as they don't complain about not having any money, it's no concern of mine.

Or you can just play it for something fun to do, like I am. Albertsons and Vons are the most expensive stores in town. I only go if they have really good specials. If I win something in the game, great. If not, I'm just out a few minutes of my time. No big deal.

That is the point. Many of us have hobbies we enjoy, even *gasp* gambling

But you are normally the first to point out that anyone who does so is an idiot, not good at math, etc. What you don't realize is we are paying for entertainment, and have plenty of money to do so. Some drop $100 a ticket for a show, some drop $500 on a great dinner. Are those people idiots? Nope. They are doing something they enjoy. Even the people who REALLY enjoy McDonalds are fine in my book. Just because someone enjoys something different than you or I, does not make them inferior.
