Less spending and less gov, indeed!
Who is "they?" I believe you are referring to ONE man. Even a lot of republicans have been dismayed at what ONE man in the republican party did, is doing and will continue to do until his last moment in office. You cannot judge the whole party by the actions of ONE man.

The Republican Party as a whole have been complicit with the president. One man alone does not wield all the power.

How would a democrat know what the "republican party as a whole" has been doing, saying or supporting?

I don't understand such a question. The Republicans hold the reins in the White House and in Congress, and the country is a mess. It really is that simple.

You have no reason to take personal offense from that reality, unless, of course, you hold a seat in the U.S. Congress.

What is it you would have me see that you think I'm blind to?

If it's that you think the president alone is responsible for the mess, then I disagree. You're entitled to that opinion, but I don't see where it's rooted in fact.

If you think I would castigate or hold responsible EVERY single Republican, then you're reading way too much into my commentary and maybe even misunderstanding my use of the phrase "as a whole."

And, vice versa.

It is unfortunate that most people do not take the time to study other ideas - they get all wrapped up with only one set of ideals

In simpler terms, I have been a registered republican all of my life. That doesn't mean that I have to vote republican or support all republican matters. It doesn't mean that I voted for the current president nor that I belive he is acting in the best interest of the country.

Regardless of party affiliation, I still have the ability to see what is happening, what has happened and how my single vote can bring about change for the better. I stand by my original reponse in this thread, I choose not to pick either of the two as I don't see either of them becoming the next president.

Alice, I am with you except I choose to register as "No Party Preference" - frankly, I am not happy with any party.

I also agree that IMO, neither one of the two listed will be elected. I believe that there is every liklihood that an "outsider" may come forward - or, someone with a good financial background will be elected.

BTW, are you award of the SWELLING movement to draft Lou Dobbs?

I agree. That's why I also watch the Republican debates and read and watch the news as concerns them as well. Can't make an informed opinion otherwise. I'm not one to automatically toe the party line.
