Thinking of taking my kid (4.5) for her first ever fair. Has anyone been? How is it? Is it crowded ? Is the food overpriced? Don't care much for the rodeo or concert mostly the carnival, animals, food , vendors and exhibits. Thanks for any feedback.

I go most years. Generally, not crowded at all. I don't think the food is overpriced, a specialty burger/hot dog would be probably $5-$7 and drinks are say $2.50 for a soda. The carnival is a bit pricey, I think you buy an all day pass for around $25/each or buy tickets. I rode the ferris wheel last year and I think it was around $5-$7 per person.

I've always been impressed with the shows they have. They always have a hypnotist, they had a couple talented dance crews last year. Plus a lot of variety acts.

I enjoyed the exhibits. Last year the Nevada Wildlife Dept had a portable huge fishing tank and kids could try fishing in it. Plus they had a bunch of other things to see at that exhibit.

I think kids would really like it.

We went today. It was a nice small fair. Lots of chickens, goats, rabbits, sheep etc. Nice little craft, art, and science exhibits. The carnival looked small but fun. We spent about 3 hours there.

The cool thing about it is, it is so different from what we are used to here. They also used to have a Bluegrass Festival up there. That was fun too. Most people in Las Vegas don't even know that is farm country up there. This was in 06 when we took our granddaughter.

Update: went yesterday. Had lots of fun. $10 entry fee. Saw award winning pigs, cows, horses, goats, lambs etc... Also, saw pig races and other things you don't see every day living in the City. The carnival was $30 for an all day pass. Food was not cheap but not expensive. Lot of cool acts and things to see. Recommend to anyone who has never been to go check it out.
