Is our tap water good to drink? What type of bad stuff is in the water and how can we find out what?

I grew up on drinking tap water. Then I met my wife. I hardly have the chance to drink tap water now. Whenever I do(no matter which state), it just has a flavor that interrupts my taste buds.

Do a search on this topic. ScoopLV has an extensive list of reasons why you don't want to drink the water straight from the tap.

It tastes disgusting. Have you seen what the water does to toilets? Imagine that in your body.
