Currently teaching overseas in China but I read an article in yahoo about teacher shortages in Las Vegas. Does anyone know what it's like teaching in Las Vegas. We have home in SF Bay Area and I'm on leave from urban district there as high school teacher. But I've often wondered if there are more opportunities and less crowds in Vegas. I am bilingual and have certifications in Spanish/Social Studies/English - I've liked visiting Vegas but it's one thing to visit and another to live. How are benefits? In California I've had full med coverage for my wife and I. Would like to get feedback

Just like any other place.

You have good kids and bad kids.

Just avoid all North Las Vegas schools, your life will be at risk.

That's a bit hyperbolic.

It would wise to note that every mass shooting has happened at schools in "nice" areas.

Some of the worst performing schools are in Las Vegas proper.

OP: Why do you want to teach here if you have a home in the Bay Area?

Thumbs down Much harsher weather than SF Bay of Tanjing

Worked in "The City" & moved to LA for better weather. Home is Page, AZ (part time) driving to Vegas for groceries & fun - the desert is very hot & very cold. Now we winter in Taipei for the most part ...

Lots of jobs, but the pay is very low....my guess is they will not micromanage you, so it could be a good job if you have another part time job, like playing video poker for comps or "dancing" or cash landscaping.
