Good morning Las Vegas!

I have an older Dodge family-van. Could I easily register it in LV, or, would it be better to just buy an auto in LV.

I remember when it wasn't worth it to bring a car from one state to another, too many tests and expense.

Thanks.

You will be better off bringing your older vehicle here and registering it. You'll need a smog cert. and registration is high here, but since your vehicle is older, it shouldn't be too bed. You buy a car here, you are going to get hit with the smog, registration, and the sales tax.

I don't know this for sure, but think you'd have to do the Nevada smog anyway. It's easy and relatively painless (if under $20 is painless).

Sounds like you want a new car anyway??? But either way you'll deal with the registration, and the DMV. Older cars are cheap(er) to register as it is based on what the car is worth. Nevada has no income tax so we get you with things like car registration.

and unheard of (but legal) dealer doc fees...

in ohio, when i had my dealership we charged $99. that covered paperwork, fedex, ebay, etc...

here, the standard doc fee (at least with towbin and planet) is $497.

there is no cap in nevada for dealer doc fees...

you would be better to bring the van here...

you'll pay 20ish for smog
i think 28 for title

and your registration... guessing would be about 100 a year..
