I know the place, Fearless Leader. I took my car there for something once, but I forget what it was at the moment.

I've had really good luck with Honest -1 Auto on Warm Springs and Arroyo Grande. They always charge what they quote and not a penny more. I had them run a diagnostic on one of my vehicles for a weird problem I was having and they didn't even charge me to fix it. My mother just took her car there and the quote they gave her was $600 less than the dealer for a clutch.

I don't think it's wise to compare an independent shop with a dealership. Comparing one Indy shop to another is ok, as is comparing a dealership to a dealership, but there is an extreme difference between the two, and not just the cost of repairs.

In regards to Honest 1. They do have an execellent reputation.

After doing some searching for Auto Repair shops, i came up with these from people that swear they are the best, most honest, etc.

1. Lee's Auto Service on S.Valley View. 362-7158. Lee is the owner and always there.

2. Brake Masters on Nellis. 1314 N.Nellis, Suite A. 89110.
438-7100. Joey Thompson, owner.

3. Brake Stop. 2013 S. Decatur. 258-0756. The former owner, Curt sold the shop, but all the same mechanics are there, minus him of course.

4. Master Mechanics off of Boulder Highway.

I don't have the addresses for #1 and 4, but you can easily find them in the phone book or an online search if they have websites. Good luck.

After all the money that I spent on getting my car fixed, my car's "service engine soon" light came back on.

There are more bad mechanics in town than good one's. The worst ever was one the government closed down for ripping people off..putting dead transmissions in cars, charging them over $1,000 for them..etc. The state closed them down. Las Vegas Automotive or something like that. This was several years ago.
The second worst place to go is Walmarts so called service center. Went there for tire's, came out of there with a totally destroyed electrical system. Still cannot figure out how they did that, and they would not admit to it. Took it to the dealer and paid $550 to fix it.
