Just got the email. Uber is now LIVE in Las Vegas:

"Starting today, you can request uberX via your Uber app."

With the only caveat being that they aren't picking up from the airport. It looks like the Strip is fair game. It'll be interesting to watch how this unfolds.

Just checked my Uber app to see what it would cost to get a ride home from my office should I ever need it. My office is 4.4 miles from my house. Uber is $15-$20.

Put the same information into Taxi Fare Finder. Came to $22.11. About the same, as the Taxi Fare Finder includes tip. I, personally, would choose the Uber ride over the taxi, as they were 9 minutes away when I checked, and the chances of a taxi getting here in 9 minutes, in the suburbs, is pretty low.

just checked pricing, it's a few dollars cheaper for uber from my place to the orleans than it costs for a taxi. I'll give them a shot and see how it is.

If you're new to Uber, use this link when you sign up to receive up to a $30 credit on your first ride.

https://www.uber.com/promo

Once you've used them, you'll have a unique code that you can share with friends and family. It's worth up to $20 on their first ride. Once they try them, you'll receive a $20 credit to your account.

Default Uber and Lyft Charge

They have decided to ignore requirements set by Clark County and go into business.

Interesting and they may be right. But the County will get its pound of flesh I expect.

Looks like hotels are going to designate an area for UBER and Lyft pickups. I just got to Excalibur and saw a sign at a side entrance indicating that it was the designated area.
