Las Vegas IS SIN CITY, its where you can partake in almost EVERY sin, and indulgment known to man ( and quite a few women) So if you have second thoughts, maybe you should reconsider your move to Las Vegas, and try Lancaster PA, where the Amish are

Wow..thank you for your advice. Not that you knew me or anything, but I was halfway joking. I stated in the first sentence that I am from DETROIT. Supposedly the 2nd most dangerous city in America or whatever. I have no problems here. I am not scared and sniveling in my home. You did not have to be so rude with your post.

And, for your spiritual entertainment (and the main reason I now call Las Vegas "Sacred City"), check out the Spiritual Life Center at 1420 S. Harmon. It's a hub of soulful activity.

If you like outdoor activities, National Geographic Adventure rated LV the #1 best place to live for the myriad of outdoor activities locally and within a short drive. Here's a link:
Las Vegas - National Geographic Adventure Magazine
There are all the city amenities, you can pick and choose the best of the "tourist" shows (like Phantom, the Producers, Spamalot) and other exhibitions (Bodies, Titanic), along with local theater, local festivals, local bars (yes, karaoke), and yes, there are go-carts and putt-putt. There's also places for quad runners and 4-wheeling. For weekend trips you are an easy drive to LA or San Diego, not to mention the national parks in Utah and Arizona.

I moved here about a year ago with my Jeep. Funds have been too low to justify a day of wheeling, but I've looked around a bit at what's available. I've seen Nellis Dunes - is that open to Jeeps? Every time I've driven by, it's only been ATVs using it. Do you know of other areas/trails open to off road vehicles? I plan on hooking up with Vegas Valley 4 Wheelers when I'm ready to hit the trail again, but would like to do some homework on the local trails and whatnot first. For some reason, I haven't been able to find a whole lot online.

1......Dumont dunes [south of Baker]
2......Nellis Dunes
3......Big Dune [north of Lathrop Wells about 2 miles on the north side of the hwy]
4......Arrow Canyon [north of Moapa....access from the north end of the canyon and watch for the petroglyphs on the east wall about 200 feet up]
5.....Wheeler Pass [access from Cold Creek Canyon nice charcoal kilns on the back side.....you end up in Pahrump]
In a couple of these places ya gotta work hard to keep the shinny side up n the greasy side down.
check out the Las Vegas Valley Jeep club if they're still around.

You get what you think about..if you constantly dwell on the negative, it will get you. Maybe Las Vegas isn't for you. You should be really sure before you make the move. And have happy and positive thoughts about any move. Just by moving to a new locale, it won't make you any happier. Happiness is a state of mind that only you can choose to be.
Like a poster said above, a lot of locals do not gamble very much, just light gambling, and i've never heard of any crazed addicted gambler mugging anyone.
As for the sin city aspect, if someone thinks it is, then i guess it is for them. For the rest of us, we live in neighborhoods just like anywhere else in the USA, and the gambling is just one small section down on the strip and downtown, with some local casino's sprinkled here and there.
