I moved here from San Diego 4 years ago this month and let me tell you I thought I had made the worst mistake of my life but each summer has gotten easier (though still hard).

To top it off I work outdoors

Why didn't you move back to San Diego then? Oh let me guess, can't afford moving back there?!

I adjusted. Seriously, it doesn't feel half as bad as the first year or two after moving here.

If it gets too hot, just strip down nekked and dive into the fountains at the Bellagio. When you get out you can count on 24 hrs in the cool LV Jail, as seen on TV. And maybe a few more while under a psychaitric evaluatin...

This thread belongs right where it is, not to worry. The thread you refer to is the "Official CHAT thread" which is a sort of catchall thread. This thread has a specific topic/purpose.

I've worked outside the whole time I've lived here. 2 years next month. I adapted to the heat quick. Now, I hate anything below 75.

Vegas has a dry heat". Lol at this point I am like to myself: Well that leaves me with the options to either steam or bake. Which is better? Lol. I mean I can understand that the heat is dry, but the wind carries the heat in Vegas, and it almost feels like you have a blow dryer on your face. Do people have high energy bills every month from running the AC? Or do I have to sit in an air-conditioned casino for 5 months? I am NOT getting in a swimming pool I'm too much of a germaphobe lol. So how do you guys cope?

And off-topic: Who's bright idea was it to build one of the most awesome cities (Las Vegas) on the planet smack dab in the desert?
Sleep during the day, and up all night, if possible.

You have to have a cooler in the car at all times if you are out for an extended period of time. You have to have a car with good AC. You have to stay in, if possible, if it is over 90 and definitely if it is over 100, because of heat stroke possibility. You have to have good AC in your place of residence.

You adapt intelligently. You don't try to play tennis or go for a run at 3 pm.

For the most part, you live your life the way you always would. People in frigid climates (sub zero) go from their heated house to their heated garage to their heated car to the heated doctor's office or shopping mall or office building or movie theater.

Here in the middle of the summer, people go from their air conditioned house to their air conditioned garage to their air conditioned car to the air conditioned doctor's office or shopping mall or office building or movie theater.

^^ This

Many (too many!) years ago a close friend moved to Dallas. We visited once in summer and asked how she could stand the weather. She told us that in Iowa we go out in summer and stay in during winter. In Dallas it's the opposite; they go out in winter and stay in during summer.

Just like here.
