Looking for a softball team to play on!
Hi all,
I am new to the forums here and new to Las Vegas(moved here in August). I have really enjoyed reading all the viewpoints here, although I prefer the ones that play up the better aspects of the Las Vegas area. If I didn't want to live here, I would not have moved here!
I am looking for a slowpitch softball team or two to join. I am 48, play like I am 28, feel like I am 68 the next day, but that's OK. Looking for either recreational or competitive team, I can play any position on a rec team, outfield on a competitive team. Won a slew of MVP's, leading hitter, etc awards when I was playing competitively a couple years ago for what that's worth. ( Sorry to blow my own horn, I guess I have to a bit. I am not conceited, jsut want to make the point that I can play competitively.) If you don't have a spot for me, maybe you know of someone to contact about playing. Any help would be appreciated.

I lived all over the country, but did most of my playing in Salt Lake and western states for tournaments. Played in a lot of tournaments here in Vegas 10-25 years ago. I have played USSSA, ASA, Triple Crown etc. so I am familiar with most of the rule variations and stuff. What do you think the main differences here is with Las Vegas Slowpitch?

Just the competition, its a lot more fierce here. If you've played tourney ball then you shouldnt have any issues. D league here isn't your average D league, as so on up the chain.
A lot of C tourney teams play in the D leagues to get in more games.

Don't mind the competition at all. And it isn't that I have to play competitively, just that is my preference. I have as much fun on rec teams, it's just different expectations. So anyone who is looking for rec team players let me know also. I just love the game of softball, I am just looking to have fun. Been on both sides, great competitive teams and rec teams that have fun and if you get a win you get a win, but that's not what it 's all about. So if you have a team and need a player or know someone who does, please let me know.

Sorry if I sounded negative, didn't mean to be. I've been playing slow pitch in Vegas for at least the last 17 years. Its changed and thats why I don't play as much as I used to. Good luck to you. You seemed to have a good attitude.

I didn't think you were negative at all. I know it has changed a lot, went out here and watched a Triple Crown, talked to the Triple Crown director from Colorado, he is not getting half the response he used to when I was playing in Salt Lake. But times change and softball participation rates are going down, at least slowpitch is. I also think the ultra competitive nature now is somehow tied to the next generation always having their hands held and being told what great athletes, persons, scholrs(misspelled on porpoise!), etc they are, when most needed a good pat on the back low enough and hard enough to be effective. But I do love the game! It's the only time in my life where I am not thinking about any other aspect of my life, just playing and havin fun.

If I'm not mistaken, you can contact either the City of Las Vegas Parks & Rec Dept. or Clark County Parks and Rec. They can set you up on a team that is looking for players.
