We love to support local charities via Restaurant Week, and this year is no exception.

Tuesday night we dined at Michael Mina's Bardot Brasserie in Aria BARDOT Brasserie | Las Vegas Hotels . The food was very good - I had the Alaskan cod, and it was cooked flawlessly. The service was great, too. We picked a great bottle of champagne to accompany dinner. The chocolat macaron dessert was extraordinary. The noise level has higher than I like, but overall a great experience.

Wednesday night we dined at Andre's in Monte Carlo Andre's Las Vegas French Restaurant & Cigar Lounge - Monte Carlo Resort & Casino . Absolutely flawless. I started with the Escargot, and had the lamb loin main course supplemented by lobster tail. We let the somalier create a wine pairing for each course. The service is flawless. The extensive collection of cognac, grand marnier, madeira and port was amazing. Two thumbs up!

At every restaurant, make sure you ask for the Restaurant Week menu.

^^ Ha! We should get CD buttons or a secret hand shake or something.

MacGeek got called out once by a random CDer who brazenly walked up to him and said " excuse me, but are you MacGeek from City Data?"

The Andre's scampi was the best entree I've had in a year. The Pernod sauce was amazing. It's really easy to screw that sauce up -- Pernod can overwhelm if not used judiciously.

How good was it? I'm buying a small bottle of Pernod today so I can work on duplicating the sauce.

What a coincidence! We were a party of 4. I was the incredibly handsome and debonair trophy husband who exuded intelligence, confidence, and sophistication.

We really enjoyed Andre's! We had never eaten there before, but this is definitely on my go-to list for special occasions going forward.

The other couple we dined with both had the scampi & raved about it as well. After dinner I spent some time just gazing at the Grand Marnier cart -- they had a bottle of 80-year aged Grand Marnier with a larger percentage of Cognac compared to a modern bottle, they told me, as well as a 45-year aged Grand Marnier. Then, upstairs on the way to the restroom, they have an amazing display of rare Cognacs, including more than one bottle from the 1700s (unopened).

Perhaps C-D should have a "check-in" button the way Facebook does.

Back when I made ungodly money, I used to order Grand Marnier "flights" at a place in Boston. They had 50 year, 100 year, and 150 year old, and we would play "guess the age based on taste".. miss those days (and that money)

That would actually, be kind of cool. I've met at least a dozen CDers, very cool people for the most part.
