No, I am talking about able bodied people, who park in the front and jaunt into a place, Look at the parking lot at the palms sometimes...

I'm missing something here. There is another mobility device that's very common in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. It can easily travel the distance in question round trip, and far beyond. Depending an which type if this device chosen it can carry a significant amount of cargo.

This device is called an autombile.

Okay, that might be a little snarky. But it is in fact true. I don't know if the scooters in question are designed for that range. The OP wouldn't want to be mid trip, and gave the battery die. Also these scooters offer no protection from the weather. A two mile trip to the store would be a long uncomfortable, possibly dangerous bake. Cars are quicker, and have AC.

Note that the OP said nothing about not being able to drive.

I thought about getting a bike, but quite frankly at age 67, I'm afraid to ride a bike on the street. My reflexes and balance are much different now from when I was young. I'm afraid of falling off the bike and breaking a hip or something.

The only way I would feel somewhat safe would be on the sidewalk, but I don't think bikes are allowed on sidewalks. Perhaps a trike. But even then I'd have to ride that on the street, and I am definitely afraid of doing that. I'd be a nervous wreck, and no doubt a menace to motorists.

What about a Segway?
So you don't have the stigma or a 'scooter'

Are you sure you really need a scooter? I've seen several people that started using a scooter for convenience, and soon thereafter NEEDED it because they were no longer getting any exercise. I'd say wait until you need it.
