I looked it up and that tooth is considered to be a moderate difficulty extraction. I'm old but apparently I still have a lot of bone. At least that's what the dentist said. It felt like an hour but in reality it probably took 15 minutes for the dentist to remove the tooth. There was a lot of changing of tools and twisting pushing and pulling. I have had teeth pulled before and this was a much worse experience. She also said it was infected but I didn't need antibiotics either.

Most of the pain now revolves around the gum damage done by the tools but my ear still hurts. Perhaps it is an infection that should be treated. Crap that means I will have to get some aquarium antibiotics. Why? Because I can't afford another doctor visit. And that's also why I always ask for pain meds and antibiotics. I ask for everything I can think of because I can't go back! Yup, time for the fish-zole.

In the meanwhile I have been using my stash of pain meds as well as whatever I could get from friends. I am not today and never have been a druggie. I probably have one alcoholic beverage a month. But you can bet I will never again be caught without pain meds and antibiotics.

And thanks! Thinking about your question made me realize it most likely is an infection that needs some help.

Honestly, the whole point of my post is that people needing, and paying for medical treatment in the 89101 deserve to be treated as well as the people in Summerlin.

No so random if you bother to read the posts in the thread.

The ear pain may be from nerve damage during extraction. I know I had pain that radiated up to my ears and sometimes just in the ear after having my wisdom teeth out.

Doctors as recently as a couple years ago would dispense vicodine like it was the magic answer for everything. Medical practice has been fully transformed into a business. Meet with patients for as little time as possible, bill for as much as possible and minimize all risks and liabilities. Doling out narcotics is no longer more lucrative than the prior liability it posed to them.
