Does anyone know now to contact the administrator/s of this forum; of of the website in general ? I posted a thread regarding a potentially controversial topic and it was deleted by the moderator and I cannot post under the same name ( block )
My thread was thought-provoking, but never disrespectful. When I attempted to re-post under a different handle, same thing.

I have come to see all the posts on the Las Vegas, NV forum either directly celebrate the "Vegas way, life and culture" or they are off-topic and are "harmless", and of a non-controversial, non-divisive nature.

ANY criticsm of Vegas, its culture and social environment ( now matter how respectfully expressed ) are grounds to delete and be blocked

This is a violation of the 1st amendment right to free speech. ANY views, opinions or mentalities should be allowed provided there are expressed politely, EVEN IF THE TOPIC IS CONTROVERSIAL OR HAS THE POTENTIAL TO "PUSH BUTTONS"

& lets face it : in the online community, it will always be SOMEONE or a few who disagree or choose to be offended...

Ive seen some *highly* controversial threads in other localities, and while some eventually got shut down, none were actually closed off entirely

I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the owners or administrators of this site.

You could try the link below. But I'm sure you know about that already.

http://www.city-data.com/forum/about-forum/

An the First Amendment only applies to government censorship. This is a privately owned website. They can limit discussion however they want. If you don't like it, find someplace else to post.

Before the lock, one free civic's lesson: This forum is a private enterprise, and "free speech" is a limitation on government, and does not apply to private enterprise. This is just like sitting in the owners living room. Say something they don't like, they may ask you to leave. Simple as that. Often it's more important how you say things than what you say.

Perhaps if you remember those small things, you'd find this a welcoming site, full of discussion about various subjects, from all different viewpoints.

You are not allowed to discuss moderation in the forums, even in the About the Forum section. If you know which moderator deleted your thread, send a direct message to them first to ask about it. Give the person time to respond... don't expect it the same day. If you are not satisfied with the response, send a direct message to one of the Senior Moderators, Yac or Marka.

Have you actually read the First Amendment? It does not provide a "right to free speech". It says:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Notice that -- "Congress shall make no law" ...

Everyone thinks they have free speech rights all over the Internet.. Wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard that.....

I'd recommend that the OP read the Terms of Service that he or she agreed to on joining very carefully.

You have a misconception about constitutional rights. This is a private forum. The owners of this site, it's moderators and admins have no obligation to honor your first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech pertains to being able to speak freely in public areas such as sidewalks. If what you are suggesting were true, then it would infringe on private property rights.

+1

I run a hockey forum and this is exactly what I tell those who step over the line. You are a guest in my house, and if you offend me or any of my guests for whatever reason, you'll be asked to leave. No one has 'rights' in a private forum. What you should have is civility and manners.
