Going to a concert at MGM Saturday night and taking my 73 year old dad. From googling I see that parking at the MGM is a nightmare, but didn't really find alternative suggestions -- Where is a reasonable place to park, possibly catch the monorail, etc... We are new to Vegas (6 months ago) and I'm still not completely familiar with the strip. We don't mind leaving early or walking a bit so I'm open to suggestions. Thank you very much.

I see a few concerts at the Garden Arena every year. We just go to the show waaaaaaayyyyyy early, eat dinner, walk around, have drinks etc. By going waaaaaaayyyyyy early, we're able to find a place near the exit. I also make SURE to back our car in, that way we can pull out easily when it's bumper-to-bumper.

The longest we've waited in line doing this is about 15 minutes.

When you say waaaaaaaaay early, do you mean 2-3 hours in advance?

If you park at the very top, (if the parking garage is super full) and near the entrance, you can take the elevator down and walk in. It's a long walk from the parking garage to the arena no matter how you slice it. When the concert is over, go to the far end and exit at the farthest East exit area. I have gone to many events, and I have to give them credit for emptying out the parking as fast as they do. You can also park across the street at the New York, New York, if you don't mind the extra walking.

Yeah, like three hours. But we make an evening of it, so it's no biggie.

Wait in stupid-long lines on concert nights. No thanks. Quicker to do my own parking.

Valet is free (except for tip) and usually well worth it... especially if you don't want your 73 yr-old dad to walk far.

I doubt dad wants to stand in line behind the other 500 concert goers waiting two hours for their cars, either.

On busy nights on the strip, valet can take a long time for drop off and pick up. Waited over 30 mins twice. Once at City Center and the other at MGM, both times were for pick up.

Waited in a 15 min line just to give the driver our ticket then waited another 15 mins to receive the car. If the weather is nice me and my wife dont mind, if its not, then we drive all the way to the top like nitro1320 said.

During big fight nights you cant even valet if you dont have a room at that hotel.
