Vegas is, and has been known for years as a place even a high school drop-out can make a decent living. In additon to luring vacationers and thrill-seekers, Sin City is highly attractive to the unprincipaled, opportunistic, immoral and superficial kind of person--they fit right in here. Check the stats: lower than average education levels, bottom-of-the-rung education system, highest in the nation for meth use and addiction etc. Unless you limit yourself to a small part of Vegas (myopic?) it's in your face every day.

Nonsense. I too have lived over a significant part of this country and spent a lot of time out of it.

It is simply a relatively blue collar southwestern city. Its education system is a little better than would be expected for a city of its size. Education levels are lower...that is because it is a blue collar city and has a relatively low professional executive class...that is what "blue collar" means. It has a problem with meth use though not really a great one. It does not have an addiction problem.

YOu are clearly one of those people who does not read with perception.

Thanks for the replies! I was looking at Summerlin then talked with someone at my work who steered me to three areas: Seven Hills, Anthem and Green Valley Ranch. I drove out there last week to check out the neighborhoods and had a car accident so I'm hoping to try again this week. Someone else at my work, who actually lives in Boulder City, said to stay below the 215.

I noticed someone else in another thread said Enterprise was great for him.

I have a Realtor and a home loan person, and they're both doing a great job, but I know it's their job to get me into a place ASAP. I have found a few places in Seven Hills that I can afford on the Realtor's MLS search site but they all seem to be sold before I get to them. I'm not sure why they are still on the site. I am very thankful for this forum, where everyone is honest and objective and nobody's going to get a commission check based on what I do!

So ... are there any bad areas in Henderson? What is "East Las Vegas," how bad is it and does it border Henderson? Should I wait for Seven Hills or settle for Anthem or Green Valley Ranch? Would you consider Anthem and Green Valley to be settling? The one guy said he could hear a pin drop at night in his neighborhood but I can't remember exactly where he lives (not the Boulder City guy).

THANKS AGAIN!!!

personal note......I would never buy in the Seven Hills Area.....wayyy back inthe early to mid 70's Stauffer Chemical Co was cited for illegaly dumping Agent Orange [the Viet Nam was was winding down and the govt didn't need it and there aren't many other markets for the ch#$] they had dumped it in the hill area on the backside of black mountain just off of the Henderson Cut-off........Seven Hills so of Rose Di Lima Pkwy/215 area.......

its St Rose Pkwy, not Rose de Lima...anyways, we used to live in Seven Hills, long time ago, there's really only 2 ways in and out, and they both involve school zones...there is no supermarket or real shopping in Seven Hills proper, you have to drive to Eastern and deal with the traffic there...all the neighbors pretty much kept to themselves...Anthem always seems to be a little too far for me and at the end of the trafficky part of Eastern...

Green Valley Ranch, I also used to live in, it was real noisy all the time, stay away from the part by the freeway, all we ever heard were sirens and of course the kids from the 2 elementary schools nearby, which also had school zones...it was also real inconvenient and had a lot of traffic...

East Las Vegas is also known as Whitney, it is north of Henderson, it is older, of course parts of Henderson and Whitney are dirty and trashy and some are nice...

where i am living now is super quiet off of Las Vegas Blvd S, of course our neighbors again keep to themselves and from looking at trash pickups, it seems that 60% of our community is empty...

That's why it's so quiet, 60% of the people aren't there. When they all come back, it will be just as noisy as other places.

I would have to completely agree on everything said here...especially 6. North Las Vegas is the coolest part of the valley with nice homes. LOL! That's where I live! I just moved here in June and I found everything listed on here to be true and humorous! Thank you!!
