I was robbed at knifepoint 40 years ago in downtown Houston. I bet the theif was pissed off, I think I had 50 cents in the purse. It happens. I'm sorry it happened to you here in Las Vegas.

I go to Fremont Street often and have never had a problem. Once I found $140 on the ground there. I used to stay at MSS several times a year and often went running alone in the early am with no problem. I would run the experience and then back to Starbucks at the GN, then return to Main Street.

The tourist from England (David Eckersall) didn't have anything happen to them..

They resurrected a post from two years ago.

This tourist likes exploring off the tourist path and so far, has chosen not so desirable areas to do so...

If you feel the need to carry a gun, it should be in the wide open......not concealed

The only reason I carry concealed is as a courtesy to others. I much prefer open carry but some people don't know how to handle the sight of a gun in the hands of a civilian.

if people were allowed to wear guns on their hips onFremont my wife would get the vapors. As long as itwas the cowboys you see there! She is very fond of them, and the firemen she saw demontrating their skillsa couple of years ago. seriously though, some of thepostings I've read here have made me think, and we'llbe more aware of whats going on around us the nexttime we're in Las Vegas this october. Thank you all.

Street smarts - whatever happened to street smarts?

One good thing, that guy robbing people at gun point in downtown LV is going to get his a__ shot off one day soon. Lots of us LV folks carry.

mod interpose: somebody has revived a thread which is over 2 1/2 -years old. The OP has never checked back to contribute to the thread. This type of incident is NOT something that is exclusive to Las Vegas as every big city has its areas where this type of event could and does happen. This thread is closed for now. --'r
