I will be in Vegas the 18th through Christmas. Does anyone have a recommendation for the best public golf course in the area? I enjoy Stallion Mountain and TPC has priced it's self out. The reason I asked is once I came and was told that a particular course was great. The green fees were $35 which were too good to be true. I went there the course was very nice but they were replacing the greens and they were all sand. This is info they failed to state when I asked on the phone.

Any of the Paiute courses will be the best bet for you. Will you have a rental car? If you do and can make the drive, we could get together for a round and it would only be $55. Shoot me a DM if interested.

Try Las Vegas National Golf Course on Desert Inn RD Green fees should be between $35.00 to $45.00 this time of year. It use to be a PGA tour course and Tiger Woods won his first PGA tournament there. Easy to get to lots of history there and surrounding area. Off of the 18 hole you can see the house used in the movie Casino also.

I have played Las Vegas National and find that it is a great course however it is much like the ones I play in Florida. I like the desert courses.

The two big Sun City courses are I think 69 if not a resident. Probably as low as the paiutes if you include the mileage. They also have all sorts of specials. You got a view on those courses Golfinnova?

Jack Nicholas Bear's Best played there 3 weeks ago great course of Jacks most famous holes.

Got a great deal on golf now $59 it's twice that at the course.

Great view of million dollar homes too.

They are ok, they won't be terribly challenging but Highland Falls gives at least some elevation changes compared to Palm Valley. I will be be biased to say overall any of the Paiute courses in terms of conditioning, playability, customer service are far superior to Sun City but other options to look at include:

TPC Las Vegas
Bear's Best
Stallion Mountain (really good deals)
Desert Pines (prices finally reasonable now that Walters is out)
Both of the Boulder courses
Rio Secco

Stay far away from Wildhorse, they are getting into dog track territory.

A few years back I played this course. It was 117 in the shade (I think it was a record for Vegas). When I got there I had the course to myself and they had to find a volunteer caddie to take me. I had a great time and since I live in South Florida it was a great relief from the humidity. Yeah it was a bit hot but the lack of humidity made it feel like the mid 90's which is not that bad. I bet I drank 2 gallons of water and never went to the restroom once. I may play it again when I get out.
