This debate happens all over the world. It's always the same arguments on each side every time. In each case, giving the tax breaks wins out and appears to be beneficial to the local community over the long term.

While I wholeheartedly support more jobs and a diversified economy here, I really don't support anymore heavy industry coming in.

We basically only have one already overburdened water supply.

And interestingly enough the deal appears to allow the pumping of 642 AF of water. So either they buy the water rights or the State Engineer certifies the water is available. Be interesting to see how that is done. It does however show that we will still provide industry with substantial quantities on demand.

And shows we are not actually in a water squeeze here.

We used to have a lot more industry, especially out in Henderson, until Pepcon blew.

We also had an active test site, and a Levis factory. A much different economic environment in the eighties than we have today.

Might work.

Faraday agreed to invest $1 billion into the state to qualify for the abatement, Hill said. Faraday will pay taxes into a trust fund that will be rebated once they reach the $1 billion investment threshold.

The company also agreed to invest $1 million in K-12 education over six years beginning in 2018. How that money will be spent was not released.

The company is based in California, already established there so why is it not opening a manufacturing plant in California. If this is such a great deal, California officials will fight hard to keep it there, obviously these local officials don't see it the same way. As you mentioned, this company will squeeze as much as it can to the already broke North Las Vegas and in the end everyone pays for it and not just the ones residing in North Las Vegas.

The Tesla tax deal took away from other industries trying to establish in Nevada like the Film industry, so how much money is this Faraday going to take away from other industries trying to break in the local market.
