Default What a neat place this is...

Just struck me today.

It was actually cool but the sunlight was at least a nine.

I came from my office in the middle of Sun City Summerlin to an appointment at Horizon Ridge and Carnegie in just under half an hour.

I left at just before noon.

As you go along that stretch of Horizon Ridge it lives up to its name. You could see all the way to Idaho and Utah. The spires of the Strip stood out in stark relief against the flat valley. The Mountains closed in on all sides...Capped with brilliant white...a little haze kept the view from reaching stark.

What a wonderful place to live.

Back home in 28 minutes. Not bad for a 22 mile trip across a major city..

Nahhh it ain't perfect...but sometimes it gets close.

Olecapt...I just may be able to beat that. Took a tour up north on 15 and took a right before Mesquite and saw the Valley of Fire State Park. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL TRIP. Highly recommend this to anyone who takes the time to live or visit Vegas.

After seeing the Grand Canyon on my trip out here a couple of years ago it really hit home at what a Phenomenal Country we all live in. Instead of getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of it all, take a few hours or days to stop and 'Smell the Roses". You can't take it with you but it sure is nice to enjoy it for as long as you can.

Unfortunately jfk, we really don't care about NY at all, this is the Las Vegas forum...and we like to keep it that way my friend.

But, I love your trip reports of driving around town Olecapt and gulfer! I agree that this valley is pretty scenic. Sometimes, when I head up to my Summerlin rental, I'm up on that elevated part of Summerlin Parkway, right off the 95North , the ramp curves around to the left and you're on Summerlin Parkway...those mountains, the Sheep Range, against the bright blue sky, with Red Rock Canyon (and the colored mountains) to the left of that, in front of you....

Even after so many years, that view still amazes me!

I have never ceased to marvel at the sheer Beauty of the Las Vegas Valley...ESPECIALLY in the early AM or late PM when the sun angle makes the best shadows.....sunrise is ALWAYS spectacular even if theres not a spot of color.

gotta love Valley of Fire too.. absolutely gorgeous.. the weirdest image that i have seen with vegas, was december 2, 2007 when the rain came in.. lots of fog.. could only see a very small part of the stratosphere.. i wish i had my camera that night.. i know it was closed, but could you imagine riding one of the rides up there on this night?
