Hello all.
I recently bought s house in 89102. I am renting ghe 96 gallon trash bin through republic services for $13+ a month. Home depot sells the same bin for $90. I am thinking about buying one and cancel the renting. Is it possible to cancel? Have anyone here have done the same and any advice from preventing the personly own bin from stolen?
Thank you for any input

If you live in an area where the new trash pickup for once a week is in effect, they will not let you change it. We bought our own from Home Depot 13 years ago when we first moved out here to NLV from LV and when they went to the once a week system, we were forced to use their bins they provide. No rental on them, you just pay the monthly trash fee. Our old one is collecting dust in the backyard.

Which means it takes almost 2 years for a payback (22 mos with tax). At our previous location, we had to get a new can every year or so because the truck split them. It doesn't seem like it would be much different here, so you may never get "ahead" on that investment.

Sorta like cell phones that last two years..and magically, the contracts are two years long...
