Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't live out here right? Yet I've noticed recently that your posts are becoming exceedingly negative and full of mis-information. I don't feel that it is appropriate for you to consistently talk down about our city especially since you have no idea. I'm sorry if I am coming off as rude, and I apologize to everyone else if they feel I am out of line on this, but your pre-conceived notions about Vegas are ridiculously sterotypical and somewhat offensive.

I'm happy here as well, all these years. People have to realize that their lives are what they make of them.
Some people wallow in misery and find "reasons" for their unhappiness, instead of looking in the mirror first and examining their own actions, decisions and choices.
No place on Earth will make them "happy"

It's ok, but frustrating to find work. I'm an Office Manager/Administrative Assistant and I've been to so many dead-end interviews in the last month that I'm getting really discouraged. If it's not someone wanting you to do a million things for $10/hr, it's someone who wants you to work way beyond your job description for just a bit more money and NO benefits.
I miss the ocean. I'm originally from Detroit, but spent the last 4 yrs in Hawaii prior to moving to Henderson, so I'm really missing the salt air and sound of the ocean. We used to live within a 2 minute walk of the beach on O'ahu.
The area in Green Valley that we live is nice, but I'm finding it harder to find a job here in Henderson than out by the strip. Seems like my 3 hr commute in Hawaii was not so far off if I have to work downtown and live out here.

It seems most everbody loves Las Vegas and likes to live there. I maybe opening a whole can of worms but where I live if you retire people right away say. Oh are you moving to Florida, Arizona or is it Las Vegas. So all I know about Las Vegas is gambling, having gang wars between the mex. and blacks. Lowlifes who live like scum and crime up the you know what. So tell me what so different between living in Las Vegas and my big city beside you have better weather. Here in my city the cops are thankful for the cold crime goes down slightly.

For one, our city is built more on suburban sprawl than urbanization, so people are not living on top of one another. If you hang out downtown then you are bound to run into lowlifes, but there are almost 2 million people here. You cannot in good conscience call all of them lowlifes based on what little you know about it. Considering the cost of living, the cost of housing, the higher than average median wage for those with minimal to no continuing education, most of the people that live out here just want what most everyone else wants. The best life possible for them and their families.
About the gang wars between the hispanics and blacks, where did you even hear this? I know nothing of this gang war, and I have been out here 15 years.
As far as crime goes, I suppose we have our fair share. You're not going to escape crime, no matter where you go. Honestly though, it's not a scary city to live in, and apart from having my truck stolen once about 10 years ago I can honestly say that I have not been a victim of any crime.

Actually Las Vegas is not a high crime city. Ain't great but vastly better than the Rust belt. There is no particular gang war - and it would be between various hispanic groups. Our black population is not big enough for black/hispanc to be more than a local issue.
You could almost claim our gangbangers are equal opportunity employers.

Ironically I was watching "Gangland" tonight on the Discovery Channel. The subject of the show was the massive gang war between the blacks and hispanics in LA. Perhaps kat confused Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

That would make more sense...It's always happening in LA, coming from someone who grew up there.
