FiveHundyByMidnight just reported that the KSNV News twitter feed said that there will be no MGM parking fees for locals. I hope they're right, being a news organization and all. We'll see if it sticks.

EDIT: I found it!

Default Hope MGM comes to their senses.

Hope it's true, but doubt it.

We'll see if it gets confirmed. If so MGM must have been feeling some heat.

TIFWIW, but I just happened to be sitting next to a guy who's fairly high up the food chain at MGM on a commercial flight yesterday. I asked him about this and he said they do not plan to charge locals for parking.

I wonder how they would implement not charging for locals. It is so easy now to get in and out of the self parking. It would be a nuisance to have to wait to show an ID or to get a ticket validated. It would be better than paying but still worse than it is now.

There will always be something to complain about... first, everyone said "this is an outrage! I will not pay for parking!"... now we will most likely get to park for free still if we just show our ID... yet that is still not good enough.
My god.

It's good enough for me! And I hope it's true. That entertainment area is one of the reasons we decided to live here.

But you are right, people will complain about anything. Had a boss once that said if you still got paid the same as working 5 days, but only had to work 1 day, there would be someone who would complain because they had to work Wednesday. And he was 100% correct.

Thank you for the nasty comment.

On a quiet day it won't be a big deal but when the place is busy and having to wait on a line of ten cars to show an ID will be a different story.

Yay!

Maybe it will be really easy like you register your casino card at the cage and only show your ID once. Then you can use your casino card in an automated machine on checking out of their garage and it shows a no charge instead of the fee from then on out.
