Well, considering the author asks--where are the best schools located, the link I provided seems to address that question.

And they shot a Palo Verde student in Summerlin while he was walking home from school in a drive by. Honor student, football player, freshman. The police are currently saying there was no connection to the shooter (a sophomore) so more senseless violence.

No place is 1005 safe. Arborview and Palo Verde are good schools though.

Hey cool! The HS I went to growing up back east is #76 on Newsweek!

Jeez, what's up with all the drugs and violence in Vegas area schools. Say what you want about the country and guns, crimes in school are not that common in most places.

Sure it is...any big city. Vegas is better than most. Try the rust belt sometime.

When we lived in Vegas, we were always surprised at the idea that people somehow felt safer in Summerlin or whatever gated neighborhoods. Everyday you would drive by the walls and watch teenagers jumping the walls to get home rather than walking all the around. Until the entire bubble is built, there has to be a realization that rich and poor kids can get into trouble. Kids have all kinds of pressure. When I was young, it was common knowledge that the prep schools in the area had the most available drugs for sale because those kids had the money to make the initial buys. So I do not know why people are so surprised when violence happens in any school.
