Chemtrails! The government is poisoning us! Don't worry guys, if you put the tinfoil hat on tight enough, you are completely protected from the radiation these things give off. I wouldn't leave my house without that tinfoil hat!

That's cool you guys still remember what rain looks like. My aunt posted some umbrella picture (she lives in Vegas) with a fan inside of the umbrella and was trying to explain how this contraption works. I told her that up here in Oregon, see we use the umbrella to shield you from this "rain" that falls, like water from the sky, and the umbrella provides protection. Very different uses for that device, apparently :P

Holy cow, we were out driving in it and ice hit the windshield and accumulated on the car. When we got home (Providence, NW corner), there was ice all over our back yard. Took a while to melt too.

Feel gifted. Those are fun stories when the tourist claim how it never rains here...and you can top that with ice or hail in April.

Storms slam Las Vegas with winds, lightning, outages Monday 7-9-2018

Monsoon-style summer storms hit the Las Vegas area late Monday with persistent lightning, sheets of rain and powerful winds that left 40,000 residents without power for much of the night.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning at about 9:30 p.m. for most of the valley. It was in effect till 10:15.

A gust of 68 mph was recorded at around 9:30 p.m. at McCarran International Airport, as winds across the area threatened to damage roofs and trees, officials said.

Airport officials said many arriving flights were diverted Monday night and many departures were grounded temporarily. They said travelers with flights Tuesday morning should check with the airline for flight status updates.

Monsoon season arrives in Las Vegas Valley; more rain possible Tuesday 7-10-2018

An overnight thunderstorm gave Las Vegas its first taste of monsoon season, blowing the valley’s normal rain totals for the month of July out of the water in just over five hours.

The storm lasted between 9 p.m. Monday and 2 a.m. Tuesday, picking up a rainfall total of 0.66 inches, according to the National Weather Service. The valley typically receives about 0.40 inches of rain for all of July.

By midnight Tuesday, more than 80 flights had been diverted from McCarran, according to spokeswoman Christine Crews said.

Roads and intersections quickly flooded across the valley, and Las Vegas police responded to at least 46 crashes during the storm, according to dispatch logs.
