I am thinking about relocating to the Nevada area. and I don't even know where to began to look for housing. I would like to rent first and then buy a home. for my older age. I am a substance abuse counselor for over 15 years in the south central area of los Angeles. I am 48 years of age and I need to retire to a location with less population. I would like to stay in my field of work but do it in Las Vegas. I am open for suggestions.

I would get a job first, then move. I believe the State of Nevada has openings and also look at UMC. Both those places would pay well for here. You would be making enough money to afford rent so no worries.

Vegas and Nevada in general always has openings for your line of work so you might even considering the smaller cities and towns.

I would start with the State jobs because the pay and benefits are still decent compared to private work.

Vegas is one of the few markets were you are better working with a real estate company in finding you a suitable place. Since it's still very much a transient city, the apts and houses get rented pretty fast and depending on your price range you may or may not have a lot of competition.
