Are any of you heavy equipment operators in/near/ or around the Las Vegas area?

Is there a Union to get into for these jobs?
Who's the big employer for the area?

I am a Miner now, I have driven 320 ton Komatsu Haul Trucks, Loaders of all sizes, dozer, skid steers, etc.

Work has not been terribly steady for the past 4 years and we are "kicking around the idea" of relocating to the area.

Thank You

There are some mines out here. Mostly gypsum but there's gold and silver too. You might be better off up in Ely where there is a lot more mine activity requiring heavy equipment. Ely is about 4 hours north of Vegas. It's a small town, but cost of living is low and pay is high.

I am currently living in Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I am currently working at a Copper and Nickel mine @ Eagle mine. Moving is just an idea right now, I would really like to leave the area here, but my wife is hesitant.

Work is very unstable and the weather is taking its toll on me emotionally.

I appreciate the info guys, thanks!

Hence my comment about Ely. Nevada has a very well developed mining industry. It just isn't in Vegas. It's mostly in the gold and silver mines in northern NV. You very likely could find work up there.

Do your research. I know people in the mining industry in the Ely, Mcgill area and they say the two major mines are slowing down production and there has been many layoff's in the last two years.
