I will have to come to Vegas regularly now for both work and pleasure. Could you link an article or talk about your experiences with the hotels and break them down into tiers? The tiers would be

Tier 1: Hotel for ballers, who can flash the cash and have a luxurious experience. These hotels have nice interior design in BOTH the rooms AND the common areas, sushi and seafood buffetts, big bright casinos etc

Tier 2: Hotels for the upper middle class on vacation, or the people using their corporate credit card for a stay.

Tier 3: Hotel for plebs who are on a budget and willing to suffer an old hotel with smoky rugs and limited amenities

I stayed at the SLS and I would put that in tier 2 to give some perspective. Not a great location, but still had nice atmosphere, nice rooms, good service.

"location" is relative and subjective.
I like lower LV area like Trop, Luxor, MB, MGM rather than middle or high up to Wynn or Belagio where all the action is.
In fact, look into off-strip like Rio and HR hotel, or even Downtown for lower rates.
I am thinking of Downtown for a 5 night stay next time.

Don't leave out Sam's Town. I got a email they now have a Roberto's Taco shop there. A great addition. Hope it's open 24/7/365. A burrito, some fries, and football.. c'mon football season.

Sam's Town is a great place. Every time I've gone to Vegas I take a trip out there which is on the way to Hoover Dam.

Haven't been to Vegas in 5 years. I would think Aria is Tier 1. I used to go to the Flamingo back in the 90's, but I feel it's gone downhill (unless they've renovated). Mirage, Bally's, Paris - Tier 2 types IMO. Bellagio is probably Tier 1, but I found it stuffy feeling.

In the center of town, I think the Golden Nugget is the classiest and all others meh.

On the airport end, was never a fan of the Luxor, but would probably categorize Tier 2 along with MGM and New York New York.

At the end of the day it's really what your personal tastes are.

I would rate Bellagio, Wynn/Encore, Aria, Cromwell and Cosmopolitan as Tier 1
Excalibur, NYNY, Luxor, Trop, Flamingo, TI, Strat Tier 3
The rest Tier 2, with the exception of Circus Circus who holds firmly at Tier 6

That's just the Strip, of course, not the dozens of other offerings downtown and off-strip.

I'd put The Palazzo in the tier 1 category. There regular rooms are very spacious, and the casino seems to attract a wealthier crowd then many of the others.

i would do Circus Circus at tier 5.5 since they have a good steak house.

I don't know that you can put every hotel into one of three tiers, and ranking them is a subjective thing.

Look at places like the Orleans or the Palms. They (IMO) would seem to be a little better than #2 and certainly not pleb joints.

Then there are places like Green Valley Ranch and Red Rock. Better than #2 but not quite #1.

Move the Rio to tier 3. Just stayed there on an over nighter and the place is run down, not very clean. Duct tape on the hallway carpet. Light fixture in the hall ways were mostly damaged. Wont stay there again.

I agree there needs to be more tiers.

Venetian Class
Bellagio Class
Upper Station Casino class
Ballys/Paris Class
Boyd Class
Common Station Class
NY/NY - Rio - Excalibur class
Circus Circus like dump class
