Someone had an oopsie on the way downtown.

Maybe when they rebuild it they'll put in a few bollards to protect it.

I would really like to know what the heck they were doing for the truck to end up balancing on that really big rock. Drunk while texting also eating while playing Pokemon go?

The only thing that REALLY surprises me about this ...

EA wasn't even in the vicinity, let alone driving a 2nd vehicle involved in the accident (likely T-boned by the genius who took out the sign ...)

It is amazing, lol. I might have been involved if I wasn't at home dealing with the ramifications of my last calamity.

Does anyone else think it was cheap and sneaky of Las Vegas to copy the original sign for that corner? People see it, take their life in their hands trying to get a picture in front of it, and not even realize it's not THE "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign.

EarthCam - Las Vegas Cams

This is the original sign that was designed by Betty Willis who died last year at age 91. They have made a nice safe parking area for tourists to stop and take pictures. It's located on Las Vegas Blvd South across the street from the airport runways. The one that was hit by a truck is/was located at the intersection of 4th and 5th (Las Vegas Blvd North). I hope they don't put the same sign up again. Come up with something new that won't attract tourists to get themselves killed.

If they can't realize the Welcome to Downtown sign isn't the real one, then they should probably just pack up and go home and take some reading comprehension classes

It was much smaller and plainly states DOWNTOWN Las Vegas. Hopefully they replace it with an exact replica.

When I first skimmed the thread title, I missed the "downtown" part, and almost burst into tears.
