LVKewlkid, some people think kid friendly is shielding them from anything they feel is a threat. What they really mean is parent friendly I think. And you are right. If you don't give the kids anything to do, it isn't really kid friendly then, is it?

I live in Centennial Hills, and the area is moderately priced with a lot of amenities - and we don't have the car payment-sized HOA fees you get in Summerlin. There are also quite a few foreclosures in the area, so deals abound in the hosuing market. There are several schools in the area, numerous parks, a YMCA that opened in the past year and a new public library scheduled to open just after the first of the year. We're also about 20 minutes from Mount Charleston, with easy access to shopping without having to stray very far.

My family and I are waiting with baited breath for that library to open. Pretty much my only complaint about the area is that there are no libraries currently, and the new one is supposed to give the one on Sahara west of Fort Apache (a very nice library by any standards) a run for it's money. What part of CH do you live in? I am right off of Grand Teton and Cimmaron and I absolutely love it.

For such a small community theres a lot for a kid to do. I have a 9 year old. He's been in Karate, soccer, floor hockey, swimming, ect. There's a public pool, several parks, there's a recreation center with all sorts of community programs available for free or very low cost. There's mountain biking, floor hockey,racket-ball, foot ball, base ball, cub scouts, after school activities, boys and girls club, a skate/bmx park, fishing pond, water park, and yes, they DO have a bowling alley.(and casinos at each end of town if the parents just HAVE to gamble)There is a movie theater about 3 miles away towards the lake.(People in vegas travel that far when they take a wrong turn). It's true, you may have to go into Vegas occasionally, but if you're into the small town-low crime-but still lots for kids to do type thing, but still want to have the option of accessing what a larger city offers, without going too far (I can travel to Vegas from Boulder in the time it takes me to drink one cup of coffee) I think Boulder City is perfect.
