Vegas can be expensive for golf unless you look in the right places. There are deals out there. Clark County residents get discounts and there are web specials on Golf Now and other sites. During the week it's pretty easy to find rates for $35 (or less) that include a cart. There is also the OB Sports card that gives you nice discounts, among other things.

As for the heat, I will take the heat over the humidity any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Maybe it's me, but I find the humidity to be physically draining when you're out there sweating bullets.

I actually like the games coming on early. I can watch football at 10 am with a cup of coffee and be out doing things in the afternoon. As for the elections, that is a once every four years event, and doesn't mean that much to me to have an effect on where I'd choose to live.

Same, I think it was a legit list. My gf and I are younger so were looking for few different things but many of the things on this list sound like a good time and I may like more over time, and all in the backdrop of bright bright sunshine! Ill see yall in August!

Mountains Edge is full of Section 8 rentals now.

We're currently eyeing a house in Mountains Edge area. Just how bad is the area now?

Not likely. 110 homes rented in Mountains Edge in the last year through the MLS. 3 would consider Section 8. That is the typical behavior in the newer suburbs.

I would also note that 870 homes sold in Mountains Edge. So rougly 7X as many sales as rentals.

And just to keep the record straight there are only a few days at or above 110. 14 in 2016 and 8 in 2015. They are unusual and mostly completely dry...3% RH.

Probably a good time to stay air conditioned but not very often.

LOL. You complain about 350 days of sunshine then state that "chemtrails" cause clouds the day after planes fly over. Have you not noticed that planes fly in and out of LV constantly. Every. Single. Day.

Duh.

Opinions on the chemtrails I know vary, as those trusting their lives to the government are all too quick to use the phrase 'conspiracy theorist'. Planes are in the sky on a daily basis spraying mist, and then a day later its conveniently 'cloudy'. Wow. But a lot of people think it's just water mist or magic dust. That doesn't cancel out the other points.

PROs:
-No state income tax
-Lots of sunshine all year around
-low humidity
-Lots of entertainment, gaming, shopping, dining choices
-Wide streets
-A world-class international airport
- Very clean resorts and hotels
- Generally a "live and let-live" place
- There are things to see, but they are a good several
hours drive away (Zion, Grand Canyon, Sedona, Arches, Bryce,
anything in California)

CONs:
- You'll need to live a neighborhood with an HOA,
because, neighborhoods without them are hellacious.
- Public schools aren't that great
- Medical care isn't that great and you may need to go to LA, SD or PHX
- No state income tax, per se, but they make up for it with
"fees"....a "fee" for this, a "fee" for that...and you end up getting
"fee'd" to death.
- Casinos, buffets and shopping can get old real quick
- The Las Vegas valley is geographically very isolated and HOURS from other places.
- Not many recreational opportunities due to isolation
- Cigarette smoke everywhere
- Crime
- Summers are very hot, winters are cold and windy

HOA Fees will make up for lack of state income tax.
Not really true. There are lots of nice homes without HOAs and there are lots with small HOA fees...$15 a month or so. That also presumes you were not in an HOA where you used to live.

There are also lots of places with property tax...like Texas...that completely overpower the HOA fees.

Many years ago I considered buying a large and older home in Rochester NY. All looked good until we realized the property tax would equal the mortgage payment.

The above PROs and CONs seem to conflict. On the contrary, my family and I have found a wealth of recreational opportunities in and around the Las Vegas valley. You are just not trying hard if you say there are not any. Furthermore, this is one of the best cities in which to live if you have an interest in visiting National Park Service sites. We have been able to visit so many national parks and national monuments, and the Las Vegas valley has served as the home base from which we have started our road trips.
