Default Thinking of moving to LV

I live on Long Island in the New York City area. I am thinking of relocating to LV, Nevada. I have family there and visit frequently.

I have been running garment manufacturing companies in NYC over 20 years. I am looking to transfer my skills to casino/hotel management. I am highly organized and also proficient with numbers.

I would like some feedback about job opportunities that would be relevant.

I doubt you'll jump right into a position that'll truly reflect your 20 years of experience- there's far too many people there already with experience in the casino/hotel industry. I'd expect to start in a pretty low-level position until you can prove what you know, and even then it'll likely be a slow climb.

I second what Bob said above. Hotels are not that quick to hire to begin with for those positions, and you'd have a better chance of getting an interview (if they even called you) with a local address/phone number...

Not only that, casino/hotel management jobs require experience IN THAT FIELD, meaning gaming especially, plus hotel management and casino experience. Managing clothing factories is not the same at all.

Typically, the big hotel/casino corps hire from within, especially management positions...that's why you don't usually see those positions open to the public...

However, you have nothing to lose, go on their websites and start filling out some online apps, maybe something else will appeal to you...

Much good luck to you. There are many transplanted LI'ers here in Las Vegas btw...

There are plenty of jobs out here, although the higher end jobs in gaming are fairly hard to get. You may find something else that strikes your fancy, though.

Try checking out some local job fairs. The ones at Cashman are supposed to be pretty big.
