No prob, JFK - I'll post my reply here again. No way in hell. As I'm starting to get older, I really regret it. I thought I was a big shot, and could quit whenever I felt like it. Now I know what my father meant by telling me that it gets harder. I'm also on attempt number 5 or 6 to stop. It will happen sooner or later... *shrug*
But, I don't regret it either. As oddball as it sounds, probably picking up that addiction so early stopped me from picking up other (even less healthy) addictions. So it's a cach-22 indeed

I'm going to have to agree with the concensus here and say that if I had it to do all over again, I would have never lit up that first cig. I have had many bad habits over the years and was able to quit the others relatively easy, but smoking is not one of those. This addiction has me by the gonads, to the point where I don't even want to try and quit.

Now if there were a room set aside for them all to go into to smoke and kill each other, that would be fine. When will people learn that smoking is not only killing themselves, it is killing other people including their loved ones.

I guess smog is much healthier than cigarettes and causes no health hazards. I guess a person talking on their cell phone and not paying attention that runs a red light and hits an innocent pedestrian isn't bad for your health. I guess that thug who sees the expensive watch on your wrist and is willing to do anything to get it presents no concern.
My point is that there are so many things in this world that will kill you long before someone standing at the front door of some building will. Sure, it may be unpleasant, but it's not like someone's just standing there blowing smoke down your throat.

Now see, the fumes your bbq are creating is adding to the smog in the valley, and that is totally atrocious. Ya right, oh well, cook me up one med well.
ANd as for PinkString, she's probably driving around the valley in a big ol exhaust fuming gasoline sucking suv. Perfect angels these people are. Im pretty sure you can find something she does that will **** someone off. Probably uses toilet paper, gonna make the tree huggers in Oregon furious. Oh and the make up shes wearing, i hate to see all the chemical compounds in the average bottle of coverup. I see the hugh chemical tanker railcars next to the makeup plants. The stench of you smelling like a flower from 30 feet away is just as obnoxious as the smoker.
As a heavy 2 pack a day smoker (I've been quit for 56 days nows, not because of my health, i actually liked smoking, but because of a bet (its Vegas we bet on everything)) I was fairly self observant of where my smoke was travelling, but you always get those ones (Pink for example) that makes a big scene about it. It's the law that has forced us outside..., we were just domiciled up in our own little venues. If you dont like to gamble, stay out of a casino. If you dont like to drink, dont go to a bar. Their are plenty of bars and clubs that are non-smoking (more now a days then previously.) I read somewhere that one of the brand new casinos is completely non-smoking (The Reve or the ????)(someone will correct me)
As for the post to running out of breathe as soon as we get to the front door -- that was pretty funny.
And as for the original question, I think it is state law now that their is no smoking in any eating establishment in the state. I know you cant smoke in the casino buffets and restaurants. That was fine with me, I actually voted for the law. But since the law has started and before I quit I used to get a ton of extra exercise walking around smoking.

Sorry dude, I do not drive a SUV. I have a small economy car that's great on gas mileage. Now you'll have to come up with another stupid inane insult if that will make you feel any better. It just makes you look, well, stupid.
I also do not use toxic makeup, i use only natural, and hardly any at all. Not that it's any of your business which it isn't.

Las Vegas law is slightly different from California. In California, there is no smoking in public places, period. In Las Vegas, it is essentially the same, with the exception of bars that DO NOT sell food. Smoking is allowed in bars that do not sell food. And smoking is allowed on casino floors.
So, when the smoking ban went into effect, some owners of bars were upset, and some actually ditched their food service to allow smoking.
The funny thing about this is, studies have shown, in California, the smoking ban increases business in the long term. I find it funny that many businesses try to cater to the smokers to keep business going, when smokers make up a minority 20% or less of the population. It is ridiculous. Many business owners can be complacent, and don't think long term.
Business owners --- ditch the smoking, even if you are a bar with no food. Your business will increase, as the majority other 80% will start actually going out to the bars!! Get with the program - stop living in the past, trying to cater to a minority of addicted people who like to inhale poison smoke into their lungs - ya? ?
This is a new generation..... get out of the old conceptual block of the past!!!

I think this discussion can be had without remarks like this. Although it may be true, it seems like a thinly veiled insult and as a few of us have pointed out before, we don't mind going outside to smoke and do try and keep our smoke to ourselves. I might be overreacting here, but it seems like you could have just said "trying to cater to a minority of addicted people" and left it at that. It seems like smoker discrimination is the last bastion of the bigot, and ridicule of smokers is not only accepted on a daily basis, but encouraged. I'm sure that everyone on this board has habits that, whether they know it or not, may infringe upon the rights of others or at least annoy the crap out of some people.
FWIW, I agree with you for the most part. Even as a smoker, I don't like places that reek of smoke or that are so smoke filled that it burns your eyes. I do not smoke in my house, or in my car when my son is in it. Just don't try to tell me how I can and cannot kill myself, period. I promise I will return the favor.
