I agree, comments like that and saying smoking is stinky, cig's are cancer sticks, it's poisen, smoking is a disgusting habit...etc..You aren't telling anyone anything they don't already know, it's just taking a cheap shot at smokers.

vegas4u, I agree with your post.
Daddys///M3 you are a polite smoker and don't like to bug others with it.
For the 3 stooges that only want to fight: Dracula, swagger, and LVTrucker, I have you all 3 on ignore so i can't see your posts so feel free to argue amongst yourselves and throw out insults i will never see. Have a great life.

I'm not sure where I was fighting with anyone, but I guess getting Pink to understand something is like trying to get a rock to burp.

Although it may be true, it seems like a thinly veiled insult and as a few of us have pointed out before, we don't mind going outside to smoke and do try and keep our smoke to ourselves. I might be overreacting here, but it seems like you could have just said "trying to cater to a minority of addicted people" and left it at that. It seems like smoker discrimination is the last bastion of the bigot, and ridicule of smokers is not only accepted on a daily basis, but encouraged. I'm sure that everyone on this board has habits that, whether they know it or not, may infringe upon the rights of others or at least annoy the crap out of some people.

FWIW, I agree with you for the most part. Even as a smoker, I don't like places that reek of smoke or that are so smoke filled that it burns your eyes. I do not smoke in my house, or in my car when my son is in it. Just don't try to tell me how I can and cannot kill myself, period. I promise I will return the favor.
This issue is not about individual rights, bigotry, etc. This is a public health issue. People can do whatever they want to their bodies, that is their right........ unless it affects the health of those around them. What I am saying is, business owners of bars that do not sell food, need to step up to the plate and do what is right for the general public. Smoking has been ingrained into our society for so many many many years, that many people who do smoke, think it is some inherited right regardless of anything. But this is a public health issue.

As far as smoking in private, your home, car, outside -- absolutely -- that is your right -- smoke away!!

And I agree with you on all of those points. My point is that it can be said without the quips and pseudo-sarcasm. As I've explained before, I am very concientious about who I am smoking around, and I do my absolute best (even if it means standing in the rain and freezing my you-know-what off) to make sure that my habit does not infringe upon others. However, the kind of people that think that smoking is some kind of ingrained right are also the type of people that have no regard for their fellow humans, and you will find that same disregard from non-smokers as well.

All I'm asking is that when we discuss issues like this we do it without being judgemental or making blanket statements like all smokers fit some stereotype. I'm sure you can respect that.

Amen Daddy...I am the same, I keep my smoke away from everyone when possible and when it's not possible, I put it out, but it seems no matter what I say, I am going to be put into that catagory of a "smoker" and every bad experience that some non-smokers have had with smokers is just the same as me being the person that gave them that bad experience...Look at what Pink did...she blocked my posts and called me a "stooge" because she said I just wanted to fight. I challenge anyone here to find where I was fighting with anyone, look back and you'll see that Pink was the one fighting. Maybe I disagree with her, but I was never out of line. I made some jokes, but who didn't? If theres one thing I said that can justify why I should have been blocked by Pink I'd sure like to hear it. It just seems to me that if your opinions don't match up with Pinks, then you are "fighting" and you should be blocked. If thats the case, Thank you for blocking me and when I move to LV, I'm that guy wayyyyy over there in the distance because I don't want you to have to smell my smoke...I'll wave at you or show you a finger...lol

Personally I'm glad they banned smoking in public places in Illinois. I can now take a breath of fresh air at the local restaurants and such. I really hate it when people smoke in public its so disgusting. Not the fact that they smoke, but the fact that they know its killing them and don't care or are "addicted." Theres things to break the addiction. And personally, I've tried smoking ONCE and its absolutely disgusting. It tastes horrible and I was coughing for like 5 minutes!
I also do not understand why they have to smoke right in front of the main entrances. Its really annoying to have that smoke blow right in your face as you enter your favorite establishment.
I don't get whats so attractive about it. Smoking is become more and more looked down upon in society. You think they would want to stop for their own health and public image.
