All restaurants are supposed to be non-smoking. Most restaurants adhere to the smoking ban. Some smaller bar/restaurants do not always enforce the rule as there are not enough agents to enforce the ban. I would feel safe saying that 99% of the time the restaurant you go to would be smoke free.

I agree.
There are plenty of people out here who smoke, and there are plenty who don't. You typically won't find it in public places though, except for the gaming parts of casinos.

Actually, there are too many smokers here. They like to smoke in front of store doors so we have to pass through their stench to get inside. Someone should ban smokers from the front of places, make them go to the back by the dumpsters.
In casino's restaurants, they have the so-called non-smoking areas, right next to the casino floor, so it's a joke. Other than that, most restaurants are non-smoking. I know they should all be by now, but some owners don't follow the rules totally yet. In time it will get better.

Yes, you figured us out. That's EXACTLY why we do it.

Would you like some cheese with that whine?
Seriously - if you don't like being exposed to all the things you'll find outside your home, then don't go anywhere. I find the smug produced by militant non-smokers to be far more caustic than most other substances, but you don't see me calling for a ban on arrogance.
People like you are a big part of the reason I left California.

*nods agree* My brother got a asthma in Los Angeles, California by smog while it was his first time visiting when he was little.

I always wondered why smokers can't walk farther than the front door when they have to smoke outside - Now I know! Because you are being smug and arrogant! Thanks, got it! And probably because you are a smoker, you'd get too out-of-breath if you walked farther. ha ha
Don't get too excited! I'm trying to halfway be funny. My mom smokes, does the same thing, she's relatively smart, so I just don't get it. I figured the smokers have no sense of smell left, and don't know how bad they smell, even after the cigarette goes out.
By the way, one doesn't have to be militant to want to breathe nicer smelling air, or at least not a cloud of someone else's breath Especially if it is in front of a restaurant.
I am all for everyone's right to smoke or whatever you want to do! (legally) But why not be considerate instead of arrogant?
I told my mom once, that I wondered if it would annoy anyone if I stood outside with the smokers and continually sprayed Lysol or something in the air. Why not? Lysol is legal! HA HA She just laughed.
I am HONESTLY not trying to start something mean here in this thread, I never until now had the opportunity to talk to anyone about this. What is the reason for smoking in the walkway?

I think smokers need to just stay home and not go anywhere. See how stupid that sounds? Just like you with your arrogant attitude telling me to not go anywhere if I don't like smoke.
I do hope we get even more militant about stinky smokers just like Calif so you and others like you can move along already.

Thanks for saying what I really wanted to say. And for having a sense of humor in doing so.
I believe everyone should have rights, including us non-smokers for a change. I dont' get in anyone's face for smoking, unless i happen to be in a casino, someone sits down next to me and lights up, then i get my portable fan out and blow their smoke back at them.

I'm the one who's being arrogant? Listen to yourself for a second - read the portions of your post that I quoted.
As for being considerate of others - I always am. If someone asks (politely), I'll move or put out my cigarette. I don't smoke directly in front of the main entrance to a building, unless circumstances otherwise don't permit (consider rain).
HOWEVER, when people are being outright jerks about it (such as you were in your post), then I'm sorry, but you better be able to handle having it fired right back at you.
Like I said, if you don't like being exposed to LIFE and all the things it brings - some of which you'll find pleasant; some of which you won't - then stay home.
