Obviously the strip operators don't care about the locals (or the ones that do will leave a hole in the system for locals that actual spend money with them.)

I'm still wondering what the LA drive in crowd is thinking about this, and is it effecting how many come to Vegas. IIRC, they'are about 30% of The Strip's business.

And the Phoenix driving crowd. It's a smaller % than LA but a lot of folks still make that drive.

I know I will no longer be spending ANY money at any place that charges for parking and that includes foood and shopping.

Again, since when do locals go to the strip?

Almost never. Yes, we should pay for that privilege

We do not want to get in the way of big spenders

I still think they should have just added it to the cost of a room. It's already insane, so what's another $15. By charging specifically for parking, they have knocked the locals completely out.
If I was Caesars, I would have charged a little more for the room and then advertised the crap out of "we don't charge for parking".

It's like everything in life has become a "gotcha".

39.99 phone plan, the bill is 60.
How did that happen, oh well see there are these fees and such.
See if you actually want to use the phone. Then is more money we charge you to activate the phone we just sold you because why? Do a lot of folks buy a phone as a paperweight?

Airlines now charge for baggage....so people normally travel a week and live of out a backpack....

It goes and on..

I believe my 450$ rental car in Florida ended up being closer to $600 for the week before I even left the counter.

It all started when restaurants started charging for water.

Exactly this. But the bean counters are too stupid. They are looking at the now, not how their actions will affect tourism down the road. Las Vegas will more likely have record tourism again this year. And maybe next year. But, if this paid parking continues, it WILL affect tourism numbers.

When the tourism numbers start to stagnate or go down, they'll be scratching their heads wondering why. We already know why. Las Vegas is not the bargain it used to be for a number of people. It's very sad that Las Vegas is turning away from the very customers that build this town. Las Vegas will suffer for this if this doesn't change.
