Incorrect again.
Every casino in Nevada HAS to remove cash from the slot machines and table games and bring it to the main counting room DAILY. It's called "The Drop"
This is a highly regulated procedure...highly regulated by the Nevada Gaming Control Board : Home.
The number one rule the Gaming Control board regarding the drop is that it must be done by CASINO EMPLOYEES-- on the payroll of said casino.
So outsourcing THAT aspect of the job would be illegal.
What MGM would do in the event of a strike is to simply transfer employees from other properties..rendering a strike useless.
However--if every MGM property went union, they would have no pool of employees to pick from.
I have many many friends in security at other properties and each of them is aware of this historic vote at Mandalay Bay.
So much so that the higher ups at other properties are aware of it and have begun "fighting back" with the use of union busters the way they did at Mandalay Bay.

Its really terrible what this company "Jackson-Lewis" About Us | Jackson Lewis has done to mgmt.
They are ALL in fear of their jobs because of the high pressure tactics this union buster company uses.

Again...Mandalay Bay security Dept hasnt gotten a raise in SEVEN YEARS.

When I've seen this done, and I have, security was present, but it was casino staff who actually removed the drop boxes and racked them into the carts. They would be the casino employees in question. And in almost all the casinos, the actual casino floor staff are not union.

Now this may vary by casino. Some may use security to actually handle the drop (as opposed to just protect those who do.) But that could easily be changed.

I think what u MIGHT be talking about is the "Toke Committee".
Those are table dealers that go OFF the clock to collect the tokes (better known as tips) at the end of day to be divided among dealers.
They are not in any way associated with the drop at all.

What other department would a casino use to handle moving the cash around property??

Janitors? Cooks?
The pit bosses aren't even allowed to touch the containers that have cash.

The actual gaming supervisory and/or count staff.

You have me flipping through the NGC rules looking for what they say about this. I can't find anything. Since you're well versed, can you give me a link to the applicable rules?

Does not work that way with the control set and MICS standards. Security officers involved with the gaming operations have to be registered with NVGCB. Registered security officers have to be present during the drops acting as the secondary agent of verification, Surveillance personnel is also involved acting as the third agent of verification. Also when an union takes control. There is language in the bargaining agreement with limitations on outsourcing.

Default We made the local news....TWICE!

MGM officials say they are preparing to go to the bargaining table.

The union that recently successfully organized security workers at the Mandalay Bay says it plans to file petitions to organize more casinos within months.

FYI...up until last week management at 2 other MGM properties lied to employees by saying the union was just a rumor.

Employees: One sweet victory
JacksonLewis.com union busters and MGM: Z E R O

All MGM departments that can go union, should do so. Look what they've done to the valet guys. Outsourced all except the one property that had union valets, and started charging for parking, so no more big tips. It's like MGM can't stand to see the little guy keep anything.

Also those silly side bets on table games are simply tip stealers.
