I was doing research on this judge because our nearly 16 year old has no interest in living with his dad and step-mother any longer (he moved out a year ago, but we never modified custody). I was horrified to come across this Youtube video and how this judge was so callous to the child.

There is a petition to help the girl:

My kid is is nearly 2 years away from being an adult, and this is the support he may face?

What were your experiences with her?

Be cautious. That the Judge could have handled it better is clear. That what she did was wrong is not.

And anytime Steve Sanson is involved you know there is something going on that can't stand the light of day. Few things are as repeatable as our Steve S.

Cautious as in the judge is harsh? Cautious of Steve Sanson? When researching this judge, this is the first time I had come across Steven Sanson. Is the bad guy in this story?

Dig around. Las Vegas has some odd characters and Steve S is one.

The Judge should have dealt with the situation better. But this is standard divorce garbage when virtually everyone lies and they pump up the kids as weapons. So you have to see the whole story and what the Judge actually knows to know if she is actually being fair. And the husband is not talking so there is no other side.

I would reach the conclusion that an outsider cannot judge the right in this situation. Though I don't mind sending the Judge a bouguet of dead roses for not treating the young lady humanely. Right badly administered is still badly administered.

In a brief defense of the Judge by the way...not all of us are expert in dealing with young hysterical females. And they can be tough. I learned to do it after three of my own, an adopted stray and 10 or 12 others who passed through searching out the female expertise of my hard nosed but communicative RN wife. In some scenarios I had to play the hulking male presence.

I know I don't know the mother's side, I know I am not an expert of dealing with hysterical people, young or old. Just worries me how this judge handled the situation and this was just a few months ago and unless my ex comes to his senses, I'd hate for my kind to be treated like that.

I don't disagree...just warning Steve S is not the most believable or stable source. He gets into the middle of lots of small battles and blows them up. I would simply be very skeptical of anything out of his shop.

If your situation gets serious talk to one of the attorneys that specializes in Family Court. They will have a much better knowledge of judge proclivities.

I've dealt with different lawyers since my divorce in 2004, and I feel 99% of them are crooks. I've been trying to track down a lawyer who gave me lots of advice 4½ years ago, who seemed truly honest (shocking, very shocking!!!) but I can't track down how I found him, etc.

I was hoping for someone to post and say that this Judge is truly fair....

Hasn't your case already been assigned to her? If it has, and she hasn't ruled on your case at all yet, you could pay $450 and file a peremptory challenge to change judges. You can only do it once per side, though, so if you do and you get a worse judge, you're stuck.

She's been assigned to the case due to "emergency protective order" to force nearly 16 Yrs old son to return to NV. Our regular judge is mister 50/50: no matter if dad's sexually abusing or step mother is verbally abusive, judge feels child shuold live 50/50.

My concern is what is my son's odds he'll be listened to & respected?

I don't want to throw away money on another lawyer who will tell me what I want to hear instead of the truth.
