Default Venetian employment?

Anybody just get hired or in the process? I was in the process a month ago and seems to have gone cold, no calls, HR says "still pending". Looks like they're still hiring alot, oh well...

It's typical that hotels go through a hiring process, (and especially with the Venetian, with Palazzo just opening and all. Plenty of jobs to be filled at both props) and then people start getting fired.

After a few weeks to a few months, the slackers get canned when they've proven they aren't as efficient as they claimed to be on paper, then new applicants are brought in, either having gone through the complete application process already or having completed just their first interview.

If you can afford to, hang in there. I wouldn't wait forever though, even a month or two should be enough to wait before I'd go and seek other employment.

Even if you got another job in the interim...if the Venetian calls you, you can always go, get the info and decide if you want to keep the job you just got or go the Venetian.

Much good luck to you!

My daughter goes to UNLV and applied for a job @ The Venetian as a pool attendant. She's at orientation today....guess your story means that she may not be hired right away.....

Orientation is done before you start your job. You have to be "hired" before you'll be allowed to attend orientation.

ALso remember......the economy SUX right now....so even tho there are positions available and they are interviewing for them, the final authorization comes from upper management and may not be filled until business picks up.....every hotel in town is scrambling for guests and cutting their rate like mad.....Treasure Island has had 4 rate cuts in the last 3 days trying to fill rooms for this weekend.....

Be patient.....things will change......

Hi

I filled out the online application for Executive Assistant at the Executive Offices. I took the timed test (did not finish), took the personality profile test and submitted my application with resume but did not get a confirmation that anything had been accepted.

Within a couple of days I got a phone call from the HR department and scheduled an interview for the next day. I met with a girl that I am guessing is a first string evaluator who gave me a 10 minute structured q and a.

I have absolutely no idea or indication how I did or if I should expect a call back. She told me that I would be hearing from them in about 2 weeks and excused me with no further explaination.

My question is this; Is this the norm? I like to think that I made a good impression, but I just feel like a number.

Any insight or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Las Vegas Sands Corporation (the Venetian and Palazzo's owner) has placed a hiring freez on about 80% of the jobs. They are establishing elegability lists, but are currently not hiring very much. The jobs that are hiring are the essentials, facilities, security, etc.

MGM and Stations has done the same. They are really not hiring many people. My wife said the last few new employee orientations at the venetian have been around 50 people when they used to be over 700. My orientation was 1300 people when I worked for them. Hers was 850 people. They used to be weekly. Now they are monthly with 50 to 100 people.

It took my wife 3 months to get called. Her friend was called the very next day. My experience was a couple of weeks. I would agree that LVSC is a hit or miss company to work for. I have heard good and bad. People either love it or they hate it, no in between. I did learn this though, if you are a money maker for the property (front desk, ISD, concierge, etc.), you make more and are treated better than non money makers (security, PAD, etc.).
